Hi All,

I picked up a 75 Bronco and I’m trying to ID the Tranny as I don’t think it’s origina. It’s a top loader 4 speed with the following info on the right side:

casting number: c-968391 P

aluminum tag: A 7003 V FL 68
30 68 435
bottom casting number: 10’4’68

1968 Tranny of some sort? Any ideas what it is?

thanks

Tag info indicates a 1968 Ford version NP-435.
Wide ratio, granny first 4-speed, common in Ford pickups and medium duty trucks 1966-1992.

And a very common Bronco swap for over 40 years.

Is the bronco driving currently? So you can verify the shift pattern and if it’s got the ultra low first gear ratio?
Is it a long bent shift lever coming out virtually under the dash and then rearward to where it’s only slightly awkward?
Long throw shifts?
Does the shift knob say 1234, or L123?

I think it was the 435 that had two different Reverse positions over the years? Or was that a T18?
One had the reverse left and forward, while the other had reverse right and rearward I think.
That’s one more thing that can be checked without the vehicle running.

Pre-'78 the T-18 was right-forward, T-19 was right-rear. Later T-18 was right-rear.
NP435 was always right-rear.
