Vapor Lock Issue

Hi y'all,

I think I am having a vapor lock issue. When I was at Super Cel in April I had a couple of times where my Bronco vapor locked, and had to wait until the fuel I guess cooled down or whatever. It was warmer this year than last in Townsend. I found that if I unhooked/re-attached the fuel line at the electric fuel pump it would usually do well enough for me to get back to the Super Cel. When I got back home from there, I re-routed the fuel line to go outside of the frame and further away from the exhaust. All seemed to be alright since then, granted I haven't driven it too often, but some. Today I drove my Bronco to work and on the way home (about an hour drive) it was probably around low 90s, well it did it again. I had to pull over three times to sit for a few minutes and the third time I unhooked/re-attached the fuel line at the pump and I made it home (about 15ish miles). I know when it's about to happen because my electric fuel pump will start making a loud like clacking sound. That's when I have to find a place to pull over pretty quickly. Didn't have any problems last summer, although this year I have my hard top on as opposed to a bikini top last year. Otherwise same set up minus the carb, but I can't remember when I changed that out, but I put a brand new one on to replace a not so good one.

What are some of my options to alleviate this problem? I was wanting to avoid heat wrap for the exhaust because I have read some not very flattering things about it, but admittedly I have no first hand knowledge of or experience with it.

Picture two is upside down, should be facing front with exhaust on right and fuel line running up the outside into the engine bay.

Thanks for any input!
Mike

I was having a problem last year I ran my braided gas line in side of the frame and put a thin spacer under the carburetor and it hasn't happened since
I'm running a Manuel fuel pump

just a simple try..... have you tried removing your gas cap when it stalls and see if it starts pulling fuel??

I had to move mine back away from the header, theres a hole on top of the frame about 12in to rear of the factory location, tap it 5/16 then add rubber hose.

sounds like the tank may have a vent issue for a test drive it with the cap off and see if it goes away. or get an old cap and drill a hole in it.
