Vent Window Frame Rubber

Is there a source for the rubber that goes between the glass and the metal frame that holds the glass (not the rubber that seals the vent window when closed)?

I've heard it's some kind of tape, is it the same stuff that holds the door glass in the lower channel thing (that the regulator moves up and down)?

go down to your local window installers they should have that thin rubber that goes in the chanel I've gotten lenghts of it from my local store in the past for free.

It is not rubber. It is butyl (a sticky adhesive bead ). A glass shop will have it. Should cost 10 or so. Get the old out with a heat gun. Be careful. Clean up with mineral spirits

I've always just used butyl setting adhesive that the glass store sells.

I'm pretty sure mine was a rubber channel. It seemed to have some adhesive in a few spots, but it came out like it was inserted as an insert.

I had a glass shop remove mine so I could repair the pivot pin. Total cost $30, that included the removal, and once the frame fixed took it back to them and they reinstalled the glass. Well worth the money.

I couldn't find Butyl locally so I went to get estimates to have the glass installed. The best I could find was $60 and a week wait. Most shops just use non-primer window urethane to glue them in like oem windows are installed (not Windshields). They GAVE me a tube of urethane and i just used a caulking gun and put them toghether. Simple and, er, Cheap?

Glass shops will have both the butyl rubber and the thin rubber material, it shouldn't cost much. Either will work just fine.

I just got some from Tom's Bronco Parts. They don't have it on their website but they do carry it. It's very inexpensive. I found it to be a bit too thin but it works fine. Maybe it will expand over time.
