Was automatic trans indicator lighted?

I have an AT with the shifter on the column. It has the PRND12 on top of the column in clear plastic. Is/was this supposed to be lit? Mine is not and I don't see a bulb socket.

It was not for '73 but was for '74-'77. If it has a black plastic cover over the clear indicator, it should be lit.
