What is the absolute lowest rise intake for a 351?

The motor I got for my project had a Terminator X tall intake. That of course wont fit. What is the lowest rise manifold (4 barrel) for the 351? I have not and do not want any body lift. Neither do I want a "cowl" hood. I am hoping to find a very low intake that I can fabricate a runner off to the passenger side for the throttle body of the Terminator. I know I will lose HP, but that is Ok.

thank you. I wonder how many hundred horsepower will be sacrificed with a van manifold. They were 4V at least?

69- 70 mustang /cougar are low , but they will have 16 bolts one extra at each water port an L shaped water passages ,, , I’ve used L shaped water passages heads with later style aftermarket intakes but not the other way square port heads and L shaped manifold?

The van intakes were 4-barrel. At least the early ones. The late ones I'm sure were 2-barrel before they went EFI. I think it is up to '74 (short hood) is the correct ones.

The 16 bolt intakes can plug the extra holes by drilling the holes out a touch and tapping them for pipe plugs. I think they are too big for 1/8" but no reason 1/4" won't fit.

Trying to find out how tall the Speedmaster cross over and straight up 8 barrel sets ups are. If I have to it will get a cowl hood. Not my favorite plan but better than a body lift for me.

My 74 351 had a stock van two barrel manifold and it fit under the hood with the stock bronco air cleaner

Don’t overlook a drop base air cleaner assembly. You’ll lose the cool stock air intake, but may save yourself some headache swapping intakes.

You can do the Econoline body mount lift. I think it’s only a 1/4 or 1/2 inch lift. I’m
not a 100% on that being how much lift it is, but I’m sure I’ll be corrected if that’s way off. I have it and I can’t tell that it’s in there.

Made everything pretty easy so far.

Also there’s a guy making adapters to put stock bumpers at the correct height for body lifts

Broncobowsher is correct, I used that cast iron manifold on my 351 with a drop base and a Corvette 1/4" phonalic base plate on my 73 in the early 90s, and that was with a Ford reman longblock. In my opinion, for a BRONCO, there is no better manifold, it was designed for great torque up to 5,000 RPM . I remember reading an article back in the day specifically about this intake. I once raced a V8 El Camino and pulled away from him with that setup!

Just thought of an even lower option, but a horrible idea. Use a 302 on a 351 intake adapter, Price Motorsports. Now you can use the lowest profile small block ford intake ever made. A factory aluminum 1-barrel side draft carb manifold. Uses a carb off a '53 corvette. Possible, yes. Advisable, NO, DON'T DO IT!

C90E-9425-E 69 Mustangs and cougars

C90X-9425-A Sold through muscle performance,
These are the part numbers for factory 4V 351w manifolds ... Note you will also have to run the PCV /spacer plate ,if you try an bolt the carburetor directlyb to manifold the throttle linkage will hit the intake runner,,
FWIW the offenhauser manifold is an 1/8 inch taller then factory 4bbl manifolds with the spacer.. the performer intake is about 3/8 taller , I have ran all three the c90e , performer , under a stock hood and sagged out original body mounts, currently run a offy with QJet under stock hood, but now run the 1inch taller body mounts,

That is an aftermarket intake made by Holman and Moody way back in the day. That intake is every bit of 50 years old now.
The names on the runner changed depending on who was placing the order. Could be Shelby (when he would actually pay his bills), Ford or Cobra. The name plate was interchangable on the forms. Learning about this stuff was very entertaining as I got a chance to hang out with Lee Holman for a day many years ago and listened to a bunch of great stories.

That was considered a high rise intake back when they were new. Much taller than the factory intake. There is a '69 Hotrod magazine article from when the 351 was new showing off some aftermarket performance items, including an intake (I think this one) and they say how much taller it is. If anyone still has there motortrend app you can look up archivel magazines. I let my subscription laps after Discovery bought and killed all the new content.
