I'm rebuilding and want the engine compartment to be a showplace. I have the angled bracket / power booster and MC. What are people using for an MC that works, is small, and doesn't look like poop?

Thanks - jim

The brake system isn't there for looks. Neither is anything else under the hood - that's one of the reasons there's a hood.

Oh, I definitely know this. With my early drums the bronco jerked hard and almost rolled me into a New Orleans canal.

I'm just looking for the best unit, powered or not, that takes up the least amount of space, and doesn't look like old brown plastic.

Wilwood + Hydroboost is what I did. Real glad I went that route. Good luck!

Id like to see a set of single cylinder dual master cylinders if your going manual.

I still like manual brakes, so if you're not into that last bit of assist on pushing the pedal, a 1" bore master with no booster would be a good fit.
Now, if you've got GM front and big GM rear calipers, this is likely not an option anymore. You'd want at least a 1.125" master with a good booster. Maybe even Hydro-Boost, which is actually cleaner looking in my opinion than the vacuum boosters are, even with their added plumbing.

I am with Paul on this. I have the manual brakes with GM disc front and drum rears. Stops really well and has a fairly clean look.

Not wanted to Hijack but my daughter bronco is getting a new vacuum system and I need a Master cylinder that will feed a small drum on the back and a Thunderbird front caliper? Front disc brakes are the big Duff unit which I believer were Tbird?

Any suggestions?

To the topic at hand, I have always bought remanned brake masters, cleaned them thoroughly and then primed and painted the cast portion. Looks good for many years providing the cap doesn't leak constantly.

Whatever paint I used on my '71's master must have been good stuff. It still looks brand new 35 years later!
Using brake fluid that does not eat paint helped I'm sure, but the paint itself is in surprisingly good condition.
Makes a big different in under-hood cosmetics.

Took some trial and error but paul is right 1" bore just isn't enough for "all disc" set up. I have vac boosted disc w/ 1.125" MC a nd finally got it dialed in where it stops good! I agree the wilwood will look good and give you a cleaner look!
