I'm a fan of the large case 100A too. More than enough amps at idle. The bearings are a lot bigger too. I just can't say it's needed. The idea that parts stores have what you need is useless miles from a paved road or town. The serpentine belts fail more often with bigger consequences.

Do you apply that same reasoning to your axle bearings? They go out as frequently as a serpentine belt. It’s a tired argument.

They are actually more reliable than v-belts.

Serpantine belts are a nice modern reliable upgrade for many.

... there are still those of us who have near stock rigs and prefer to keep them that way for a whole host of reasons. All my mods are easily reversible except for the cut fenders, which were that way when I bought it...

Mine is not a rock crawler or a dune jumper, just a dependable trail rig that I don't have to transport to the trail head on a flat-bed or box trailer.

Me either-driving it is what I like to do...I like to be able to drive hundreds if not a thousand miles one way to wheel (Rubicon, Moab, etc) then drive it home. Hence the need for an upgrade over parts designed 55yrs ago. Larger alt brgs, larger axle brgs, larger frt end (D44) list is endless for why upgraded or later model parts are much more reliable than 1964-6 designed parts...
