What year is this dusty Bronco?

I created the image below for comparison of different emblems for the 289 and 302. When I get a magnifying glass on the original photo I can't make out the number on that front emblem. There is no doubt that it is my Type 2, as I have defined them. With the yellow body, the color of the band behind the numbers appears to be blue and not red, which would indicate a 289.. For the back emblem, there is nothing but the words Bronco, no other aspects.

With it being a 289 it could be a 67 0r 68, since 69 brought in the 302 V8 replacement. With the swing-away tire carrier and the side fender reflectors, wouldn't that indicate that it's a 68?

68' and early 69' looked identical from the outside other than the grill (small clear signal lens vs large amber lens) and the 289 and 302 badges if they came with a v8. Same reflectors, same hood loop, same windshield frames, etc. The 289 and 302 weren't "phase out, phase in" options. The 289 stopped with the 68', and the 302 began with 69'. Vacuum wipe/electric wiper did however phase out after the first few months of 69' production though. Therefore the hoods changed and windshield frames changed on the later 69' vs the earlier 69'.

It also looks like your wipers are in the 69' and newer location as well, with the passenger side wiper being almost in the center of the windshield. On a 66-68' windshield the passenger wiper would be behind your head in the first pic.

Doors are clearly not 66/67 style.

I've never seen the Type 2 289 fender emblem on a Bronco. Always the type one.
I took a couple close-up digital pictures of my front fender photo and then zoomed in with a photo editor. I appreciate the fact that you have never seen a Type 2 289 on a Bronco, but from these screen-prints of the zoom-ins there is no triangle shape hanging below. That would mean, to me, that they were Type 2. Maybe what you are saying is that if they are Type 2, the engine must be a 302.

That’s what I took his statement to mean. A V would have meant 289 and a’68 while type 2 like you have would indicate a 302 and a ‘69, ‘70, or ‘71.

You need to write a book like TZ did :)
