UH oh....68 should be on the driver side kick panel like the one pictured above. Make sure it matches the frame lest ye run int "issues" .

'68 was the first year it was moved to the glovebox door. '66 and '67 were the years it was on the kick panel.

My '68 body has no emergency brake pedal now and the left fender is off, but I can find no VIN plate like the one pictured anywhere on the driver side kick panel. The only aluminum plate like one in the photo, is on the glove door. My '77 is the same with no other VINs than the glove box door and the top of the frame on the pass side. Where exactly is the kick panel VIN?

My 68 is on the kick panel so it was moved sometime DURING 68 it seems.

Can you post a picture of the vin tag and vin number. As far as I know only the 66-67 were attached to the kick panel.

I removed it for body and paint and re-riveted it in a more accessible location. Frame, Tag, and title all match.

If you can figure how the "A" ended up on a 68 serial number let me know! From all accounts it should have been a "C" based on the sequence number. Then again my doors were the oddball 67/68 mixed doors as well with the third lock hole location

Maybe it was mis-titled by the state of California back in 83 when it came from Texas?

You have a December of '66 build VIN number, making it a '67. It seems to have been titled incorrectly.

My inspectin station would not accept the glove box tag. They located the frame stamped version on the passenger side on top of the frame aft of the shock tower.

In my state of MD removing a VIN tag by owner is illegal and can subject the car to impound.

I have yet to find my vin on my frame, though haven't removed paint. At one point the frame was sand blasted so hopefully its still there. Had to order new tags since the one on the kick panel was lost in rebuilding, put on on the glove box as well. They didn't check in WI or MN.

I had to wire brush the frame and then use a fome sanding pad before I could see them. I was starting to think they were not there.
