Which Solvent to Clean Valve Body?

I plan on pulling my transmission valve body to perform the modifications in Bwonco Howies Tech Article. Inevitably, I will be cleaning the valve body parts. What solvent should I use and what type of rag should I use, so I do not introduce contamination and prevent rag lint?

Thanks for any help.

Brake cleaner works well at knocking the gunk out of a valve body. Just don't shoot yourself in the eye with it. Use no rags or you will get lint on the 1,000s of sharp edges. Compressed air will dry it out quickly but brake cleaner dries pretty fast by itself.

A drop of clean ATF as they go back together can prevent scoring. Torque wrench while installing to prevent warping the valve body which will cause the valves to stick.

As recommended by Viper, brake clean is fine. I also use carb cleaner if available.

I used mineral spirits to get the bulk of it and then hit it with brake cleaner and compressed air.

X2 on not spraying yourself in the eye. I just finished up a 4R70W and twice I took my safety glasses off and had something I needed to spray "real quick". Both times I got shot in the eye. Hurts like a SOB and you won't see straight for 10 minutes.
