Why do YOU love YOUR Bronco?

I know we all love Broncos in general for a variety of different reasons but what I want to know is why you love YOUR own Bronco. Here's why I love mine:

My Bronco was a gift from my dad after my mom and I had secretly bought him a 1967 Ford Fairlane for his birthday. It replaced the Fairlane he had until a month before I was born 30 years before. He knew that I had always wanted a Bronco so after we got him his Fairlane he secretly went on a search for a one for me. He called me one afternoon and said he was coming to pick me up because he had something to show me. We drove to the POs house and asked me if I wanted it(duh%)) and bought it on the spot. My dad and I have worked on a lot of different things together over the years from lawnmowers to racecars, and my Bronco has been no different. We have enjoyed many hours together working on my rig.

Another reason I love my rig is because it was the first vehicle that I have ever "built". I have had my hands on every single nut and bolt on this rig while doing a complete frameoff build and it has forced me to learn a lot and to challenge myself to learn and do so many different things I had never done before or thought I could do. I knew little to nothing about 4WD vehicles going into my build and now I consider myself to be very capable of maintaining and fixing my rig. I have improved significantly in my welding, learned to do bodywork and basic sheet metal fabrication, some basic wiring, rebuild driveshafts and axle shafts, learned how to rebuild and maintain front hub assemblies, learned how to operate and rebuild a transfer case, and so much about motor work and engine tuning that I can't even list it all. Basically building my Bronco has made me into a fairly decent mechanic.:p

The final reasons I love my Bronco is because I know that when I climb up into that seat, fire up that motor, and take off down the road that what I'm driving is something that I have a lot of blood, sweat, and money into and it's something that I can be proud of regardless of what anyone else thinks about it. I built it the way I wanted to and the way I like it. I love my rig because I created it and have a great sense of satisfaction in knowing that. My Bronco has brought to me many, many new brothers and sisters in this community. Many whom have been willing to lend a helping hand and teach me a lot of the stuff I have learned. Passing on their knowledge and quite often extra parts to get me to where I am today. I have thanked those people many time over and I believe they know how much they are appreciated. It is my wish that through my Bronco that I can pass along my new knowledge to others in this community and return the favor that have been granted to me. And probably my favorite reason I love my Bronco is because I have two little boys that love it and get excited every time we take it out. I have something to use as a teaching tool for my boys and another way to get to spend quality time with them.

So, why do YOU love YOUR Bronco???

I don't love my Bronco. I am actually starting to loathe it. It hates me, I know that for sure.

awesome Smoke....very cool reasons!
I love mine because it's ever evolving. Was mechanically sound when i bought it but body was oh so rough. It's been tedious at times trying to fight the rust but as you said, "i built it the way i like it" and you know what? that's enough for me. I'm quick to tell some one that it's far from good but good from far. I've built it on the cheap, only upgrading when $$ allow as i do not have an open check book when it comes to my "toy". I've heard others bust on it, but you know what? don't really value their opinion anyway. Buying my Bronco has also brought to me many, many new friends...Ride on and continue loving gents....

Defenitely lots of sentimental reasons also (damn you can write smokeater). But mainly because chicks dig it and it clowns just about every jeep I've ever seen.

Smoke, I'm with you, I love mine even though it does cause me some headaches from time to time. It's almost like a child, they drive you crazy sometimes but you still love them no matter what. My family loves the EB almost as much as I do and I wouldn't even think of getting rid of it.

I have always liked Fords, I have owned 10 different ones. I always drooled over the Early Broncos, then my brother got one and we started to do fixes to it, I t grew even more on me. I have my ramcharger that I dis a frame off 3/4 ton build on, but I seldom use it, due to the poor drive-ability. I have drive n his and it always gets looks and thumbs up. I have owned a couple of jeeps, and I agree that are for girls, as My wife owned the first one when I meet her and she convinced em to buy a 2002 a few years back.

Now the Ram attachment is there, blood, sweat and money, but I am keeping as many items as will fit on to the EB, merging the soul of both into a more practical and cooler beast, a beast none the less ;D

Thanks to my bronco I can paint, fabricate, weld, wire, troubleshoot (usually with viperwolf's help). It taught me how to rebuild a 302, a transfer case and mess with a c4. The community here taught me that if you ever wondered if you could (fill in the blank here)... the answer is yes and someone here has either travelled the path or is willing to help.

well but when i get to use it i love it because i put it together with my hands and help from people on this site, a good feeling to have something that you did yourself. not just drop some cash and geta new truck from a dealership.

I love mine because it was my grandpa's. He bought it new in '71 after getting a '68 stolen. Most of the time when growing up, it just sat in our barn and would be used to tow our boat to the lake. I would occasionally drive it to school when my '88 Bronco II would break down (It broke every two weeks like it was cursed). Everyone at school would always want to check out the three on the tree.

I dont know why I love Broncos.

I am not mechanical and these need constant repair.
I am not an electrician and the wiring is 40 years old.
I am not an autobody guy and these need constant autobody work.
I am not a rock crawler but I love Moab.
I am not a mudder but more of a street cruiser
I am not a Ford guy, but my Dad was before he past.
I am not a 4-wheeler, I am a Harley guy.
I like to go fast, Broncos only go 70 MPH.

I do know that riding around, topless, summer day, sun shining, music up, cold drinks, all with my family of 4 - there is nothing else I want more in the world.

This is a Harley replacement that is safer, bigger, and more versatile. Plus taking my family with me is the icing on the cake.

Great question and great posts. Love this forum.

I don't love mine, yet. I've had it for a year and a half. I loved the one I sold 10 years ago and had regretted almost every day since. I payed almost twice as much for this one than the last one I had, and this one is not quite as nice looking. I think it's tough for my current Bronco to compete with the fond memories of the one I let get away.

It's the anticipation of turning the key knowing that there's an adventure waiting...mostly excellent, a few not so, but an adventure none the less. It's the effortless transporting back in time...should I want to go there. And as my wife pointed out in explaining riding in the Bronco to her friends..."it's like being in the circus" (I don't want to think about how she knows that) people smiling, pointing, staring and sometimes looking bewildered. Yes. I do love the circus.

I love my Bronco for so many reasons. One of the main ones are the people I meet. Bronco people are a different bunch. They are genuine!! They truly love their obsession. None are posers like other communities.

The second reason why I love Broncos is that cars used to be a way to get from point A to poit B. In the Bronco the Journey is the destination. You really drive the way it was meant to be. I don't get pissed at traffic jams or rain or anything. Even my wife said Im a much happier more positive reason because of it.

I love the feeling of waiting for that box of new stuff to arrive so you have an excuse to tinker.

Man, I want to go for a drive again. I have to ask if the wife needs anything ;D

It's probably the biggest, most complex, detailed, and involved project I have ever undertaken, and completed. I think, and have had it confirmed, that I did it really well, and have a vehicle that I am very proud to drive. Like Smoke, I have had a wrench on every nut and bolt on this rig. I learned to weld, I can do differential gear setups now, etc, etc!

I also found a group of ppl in my community that share my interest, and are now very good friends. Try asking a Jeep guy if you can borrow a set of axle shafts for 3 months...see how far that gets you!

My 69 was bought by my dad in 71 when a man traded it in for a 3/4 Ford. The guy had bought it to pull a horse trailer, it pulled ok but didn't like haulin that heavy load in. A handful of years later, Mom and dad brought a newborn(me!) home in it! I have been fourwheelin, daily drivin, and whatever else can be done with a Bronco since mom carried me in her tummy! In 95, my dad signed the title over to me due to my need for a fourwheel drive for winter. The only stipulation was, if I ever lost interest in it I had to sign it back over to him rather than sell it.......Come on now!!! It needed plenty of work when I took ownership and that is were I applied many of the skills learned over the years from workin under, around and inside this Bronco growing up. So, I love my Bronco because it is somewhat an extention of the bond between my dad and I. The things I've seen this Bronco do and the places I've seen it go, forever had me convinced that nothing could ever stop it! Too much work has gone into it to hit the woods or the mud, besides it means to much to me to see anything happen to it. I will make certain that I keep it goin forever, for one day my son(when the day comes) will take the title and keys.....
THANKS DAD, YOUR THE BEST!!!!
