Why no 3.5 Ecoboost swaps?

Sure there's no way to make a six cylinder sound ok.
But there are a lot of single exhausted Broncos with the same issue.
This looks like the best option I've seen in a long time.

Honestly if money was no object the 3.5 Ecoboost would probably be my top choice. They make a ton of power and don't suffer from any altitude changes which we have a lot of. I understand the complexity of a twin turbo modern engine is severe. I get why people go the Coyote route but even those seem to require quite a bit of work.

I'll probably just stick with my 302 or similar base so it just drops in.

If money was no object, I would do a Ford 2.3L Ecoboost. The one from the Mustang. 310hp and 350ft/lbs of torque. Small light weight aluminium motor.......The torque peaks at 3000rom...what a driver that would be.

I think that would be a great motor for these things. Now that they are putting them in more vehicles maybe the cost will drop enough that we will see more swaps in other platforms.

There are a few good sounding sixes. Early Jag for example. But they are few and far between.

Still working on mine. I suffer from scope creep. Oil pan clearance and steering were the biggest issues. Right now I'm working on the intercooler/radiator packaging and associated plumbing with a custom core support.

You can make the 3.5 TT HO from the Raptor sound damn good. It sounds like a weed whacker from OEM, but Borla Attak and then get rid of the Borla X pipe (makes it sound way too loud and ricey) and put the resonator in its place. I have to be honest, no it doesn't sound like a V8 on a Flowmaster (which is what I have in Bronco), it actually sounds like performance, not redneck cherry bombs. I love my Bronco, but that Raptor echoing off underpasses and buildings sounds 10x better. I would love to see/hear a 3.5 TT HO Raptor in a EB...done by someone with way more money than me..lol...you would still have clowns saying...yeah, but its not a V8...well its not a V10 or V12 either...which both can out perform a V8...and they would fluff off a Bronco with 450hp and 510Tq in a tiny truck while they are rolling with a 275hp V8 they traded from a buddy for a rusty hardtop

Not a big fan of some of the modern swaps as Ford technician I work on them everyday and enjoy having a "simple" powertrain in my Bronco's. What actually puzzles me is why the 2.7L is never mention it would be a lot better fit than the 3.5L in a early Bronco IMHO.

My understanding was the 2.7 was just a 3.5 package but was just smaller pistons not moving as far. Never compared them side by side, but my quick glace they looked the same to me. So what makes the 2.7 (potentially) package better?

Yeah, way over my level. I wouldn't even want to even think about it. Today I lifted hood while washing truck and hosed off all the South Carolina Corona Pollen 19 off the Raptor engine and thought damn it would be cool in a Bronco, but what a brainy headache mess.

That was my understanding as well. Unless it is physically smaller they all seem to be similar in regards to the work needed to fit them into the early broncos.

Why do all that work for something that sounds like a Honda Accord ?

The new raptors and expeditions all have the six cylinder and sound like a worn out 82 Chevy S-10.

That was one thing I loved about the tundra I drove , when you Floored the pedal, it sounded great, even with the factory exhaust. There was no question that a powerful V-8 was roaring under the hood.

I’ve always liked the roar of an old four barrel carb better than a loud exhaust.

Maybe he was thinking of the 2.3 ecoboost 4-cylinder?

The 2.3L is the cats ass

We need someone with money to do it.

I am poor. I was going to use my stimulus check to pay off my house, buy a new watch, buy a new Tundra, put an addition on my house and put a two post lift and a four post lift. But it turns out that I make too much and I get zero. So all of that is on hold

That little window in the back glass in my Gen 2 3.5L V6 Twin Turbo EcobBoost Raptor? I open it up so I can hear the sweet sound of the V8 Tundras fading out behind me!!
