Hello all,
Curious on the best way to attach windshield frame . I have heard multiple ways ( weld, nut certs, weld nuts , tap and sheet metal screws. ) I would love to hear your opinion and reasoning.

Thanks in advance !

Hopefully someone here who has done it multiple times will chime in. Probably just a few even here though.
That, or else all you’re gonna get is personal experiences of doing it once. Which will be most.
Therefore that’s either their favorite, or their not gonna recommend it. Same answers that you’ve been reading all along. Little chance for consensus.

Factory ones were bolted to the cowl originally, and welded and later years.
Not sure which way would be the “best“ way.

Good luck!

We use a stainless steel hinge on all ours, like to paint the frame off the vehicle. You use just regular screws on both sides, or drill and use nut -serts.

I used SS flat head screws along the entire hinge. Very strong mount, but I also have a hard top which makes a huge difference in windshield frame strength. If your going topless, I would weld it with a couple dozen spot welds.

I took flat steel and wlded nuts to it, then used panel adhesive and stuck it under the dash to give it a little more strength and then bolted it in. I probably over built it, but was planning on running without a top mostly and wanted it stronger than stock but also wanted to be able to remove it if needed (I dont know why).

I forgot to mention, probably the most important part of all this, is to make sure it’s aligned correctly!
Straight, and perfectly centered side to side as fits your specific Bronco.

Second, and as far as I’m concerned, equally important, is making sure the surfaces are sealed between the hinge and the body, and the hinge and the frame.
It’s nice when you’re finally finished. Bronco doesn’t end up with a puddle on the floor every time it rains.

Yep all this needs to be done before paint..........and door need to be installed and aligned,, My approch frame and hinge epoxy primed , plug weld frame to hinge, predrilled holes, 2 part seam sealer between and clamped plug weld holes clean . weld center out welder turned up minimal as possible weld time and let cool between welds,, fit align to body and doors , predrill screw holes as i screwed hinge to cowl,,,,,,, painted truck , windshield frame and hinge,, used 2 part panel bond { as there is more working time then seam sealer} between and installed screws ... not planning on taking off unless something bad happens ,,
