Hey guys, I am looking for some input on what is the best way to fix a cracked windshield frame. It is cracked about an inch above the door weld by the door handle. Thanks

pics would help, but without seeing it I would recommend cleaning it and weld, of course the glass will have to be removed, or I should say I would remove it.

Sounds like you are talking about the door window frame, not the windshield. Careful welding, with perhaps a backer piece in the windows channel with a couple rosette welds is what I would try. You could also remove it and buy a 66-68 door window frame to replace it if the metal is too fatigued.

I had a buddy tig weld mine... He is a pro, so it was no big deal for him. The metal is pretty thin...and, obviously, fatigued and likely rusty...it would be worth it finding someone good. Door parts are expensive. You may not need to remove the glass, if you have someone tig it, but otherwise, I would strip the door glass and vent windows and remove the door. Good luck.

Sounds like a stress crack. I just welded mine but I have early doors and could remove the frames to work on it. As was stated, remove the glass and window felt clean the paint off and put a few welds on it (outside not inside the channel) then sand smooth. If it’s rust and not stress it might be a different answer since the steel will be weaker or missing.
