Windshield mounts, is this factory?

Is this how the windshield mounts, where the bolts or knobs thread into looked from the factory? Kinda crushed or bulbed out from tightening down the windshield? I have a feeling the answer is no, but I'm just wondering how often or easily these do crush/flare out like this? Currently have the dash out to build for cage build and figured I'd take care of this at the same time.

That is a factory mount. It has that spacer to avoid crushing the dash.

Yes, it is factory. What I was trying to ask, which I butchered the explanation, is whether that "spacer" is intended to crush and bulb out on the sides as both sides in the pics show?

Actually I butchered the answer now that I read your question slowly. Probably overtightened. They're definitely bowed. Here's mine: (if you click on them, they straighten up)

Thanks for the pics. I figured they were not supposed to be mushroomed like mine are. I just wanted to check other Broncos to see if this is something they all do when the factory installed the bolts or if it was in fact from over-tightening from a previous owner. How many others out there have mushroomed out windshield mount spacers vs. how many have straight/square spacers like AZ73. Thanks again.

My '68 is stripped down and that part is exposed. The '68 has the knobs to fold the windshield down. Mine aren't deformed and I don't think hand turning the knob can do that kind of damage. The later hex nut style could easily be torqued enough to do it.The good news is after straightening them out, if they don't look perfect, you can't see them behind the dash.

Thanks jckkys. I was fishing for whether they all mushroom like this over time, like how they all tend to rust in the same exact spots, or if someone in the past really cranked down on this one.

And if they are beyond straightening out, the Bronco parts houses do sell a repro.
