Windshield support

When it warms up a little more I am going to take the hard top off. I have a bikini top that I am planning on running. I would like to add some support for the windshield. I saw that wildhorses sells a nice kit, but I have one problem. It says they are to mount off the rollbar to the windshield frame. I just have a 4 point rollbar. Has anyone used these supports mounted a different way? I was thinking I could go from the fender to the windshield, but I don't know how it would look, or if it is even a good idea. If any of yall have done something similar, let me know. And if you have any pics, well thats even better :) Thanks, Craig

I saw someone that had a similar setup that WH is selling but they were really long so it would reach the main hoop of their 4pt roll cage. Do a search for this topic and I believe you will find the picture of it.

Cool! I searched it and got an idea. I couldn't find any pics though, but I think I know what I am going to do now. Someone suggested using 3/4" conduit and flattening the ends and bending the flat part at a 90 degree angle. Then attach to the cage and the windshield frame with screws. With a little grinding and some paint, it might look like it is supposed to be there. I think it will add support to the bikini top also. I'll post some pics after I put them in. Thanks, Craig

Before SecondChance added the front cage he ran two bars (about 3/4") down the center. At the front he welded a piece of 1" angle to them to give a flat point for mounting them to the holes in the top of the windshield frame. I don't recall off hand how the back was mounted but it could be done in the same manner.

Just wanted to show how I supported my windshield with the 4-point rollbar...

I used 1x1 aluminum from home depot, and angle brackets in the rear. On the front I drilled holes through the aluminum and bolted them through the existing windshied holes. Craig
