Doug, the good news is that you have other vendors to choose from and compare to, and often times the shipping calculator on their websites is incorrect. I would call again.

I would also fill your 'shopping cart' on a couple other vendor sites and compare the bottom line. Every time I've done this the numbers come out about the same. -Jeff

Agreed.. shop around, compare.. Everyone has bad days and some things are out of their control

I think some retailers are making up money on shipping charges. However, I do realize it does takes labor/material to package and ship heavy and bulky items and expect the shipping to reflect this. But recently I purchased four, small brass cutting tips for my plasma torch from a well-known online welding supply company...$17 shipping and arrived in a small envelope. Now that is a rip-off!

Cheapest shipping was $271 and it cost $166 to just pick it up. Something about drop shipping.

Not nit-picking, but please include the size/weight of the parts you looking to ship.

Did they need to be delivered on a pallet/off loaded from a truck? Odd length/box shape? Fragile (glass)? Was there a needed insurance surcharge?

That shipping cost in a vacuum is high, but if you tell us you were ordering body panels (which could be drop shipped from dyna or whomever) then that cost is about right.

I'm going to have to have a cage shipped to me (at some point) and the only saving grace is that I can have it delivered to my warehouse and I can use my own fork lift to get it off and into/onto my Bronco instantly.

And to the 'Amazon ships 2nd day for $119/yr': Read up on what they are doing to employees of both Amazon and delivery services.

To me it's the china parts (poor quality)the vendors sell. I try now to find used parts on the classifieds here when I can.

Vendor shipping always is a headache too.

Like others have said shipping is what it is. I send parts all over the country for my work, everything from UPS packages, UPS freight, Fed Ex, partial truck loads, full truck loads and oversized loads. Shipping cost suck right now.
I just placed an order from JBG last week, placed it on Thursday got the parts Monday.
It was $351.00 for the parts $24 for shipping. I did have a power steering pump, brackets, and some other small items so it was 29 lbs. I don't think that rate was bad at all. I shop around, I really like Wildhorses they are great on the phone, and try to help with shipping but no matter what Cali to Maryland shipping is high. JBG had the 10% off offer so with the lower freight and the 10% off it was a no brainer.

Last time I ordered from the Graveyard I was lucky and talked to Jeff, all my small parts were shipped in a padded flat rate envelope for 7.20 and arrived in 2 days.

I think this is true. I ordered a few small items from Tom's and they came is a box about the size of a shoe box, 40 bucks shipping, I typed in the dimensions and weights into my fedex account and ground shipping should have been about 8 dollars. I think there should be a law against gouging people on shipping. I think this was a reason a lot of people moved away from ebay, it was getting ridiculous paying more shipping than you did for the item.

Nobody HAS to buy these parts. If you don't like the shipping charge, make a local friend, have them pick it up and ship it to you. Buy them a dinner when you see them again.

Ebay pushed sellers hard to do free shipping and most do ship free now. I buy a lot from ebay and 90% 0f the time I get free shipping.

Remember the parts supplier has to pay for someone to pull the part, put it in the box, and set up the shipping. Not to mention the cost of the boxes and packing material. So the rate you may get for shipping the parts doesn't include the handling part.
Not that the mark up is always fair, but just something to consider.

I just bought a bed liner and a Bestop hard folding tonneau for a full size Tundra with a 5.5' bed from Car ID.com. Shipping was $90 for both items and I believe both were drop shipped direct from factory, one freight and one UPS ground. The bedliner was huge and bigger (Wider) than a normal pallet. I was quite pleased. I am not pleased with the companies that also upcharge shipping. I have no experience with the vendor in question.

For me it is the self inflicted wounds that take the cake. Dealing with one of the ones that has been around the longest, once I was sent a part that was clearly returned by another customer - greasy fingerprints and bent. They took it back but I had to pay to ship it. More recently a Revel model in a crushed box - the outter shipping box was fine - how the he!$ can you gift that?
Well I guess two gaffs in 30 years is not too bad. I have switched to CJ for the most part and I am quite happy. The free shipping takes all those games out of the equation, though the price winds up equal for the most part.

eBay is now charging the sellers fee percentage against the shipping as well as the item, so it now costs the sellers more to sell on eBay.

You guys want to talk shipping cost?

I live in Hawaii... I get jacked every time I buy anything and everything that's not on island!!!

Tom's Bronco wanted $280 in shipping for rear seats that cost $275... I got it off Amazon ...same seat, same price... $7 dollars shipping... nough said!

There are Bronco vendors I avoid, because I believe they try to rip me off in shipping cost (adding more profit margin to actual shipping cost)

I often pay more in shipping than the parts ... This is why I try Amazon then e-bay first before all other vendors...

BTW: WH seems to be the most quickest and reasonable (read: honest) in shipping for me... when the first two are a no-go...

Aloha

You can't beat Dennis Carpenter on shipping.......PERIOD. Flat rate 2 fenders shipped to my door $14.99 total shipping. Blue Oval brand.....

I've ordered from all and had good results. Just lucky I guess. WH has outrageous shipping on their hood scoop. I called and they could do nothing bout it. It arrived in a HUGE box which explains the shipping. Larger items no matter the weight costs more due to the space they take up.

You have to keep in mind, the 4 main vendors are very Bronco specific and while we all like to think Classic Bronco parts is the center of the universe, it's not and is a very (ok somewhat) limited market. This prevents them from making deals with the shipping companies.

The shippers take advantage of the small guys because the big guys (wal mart, AMZ and others) negotiate such rock bottom deals. I heard some place the Post Office was losing money on the deal it made with AMZ. So guess what, they make up for it off the backs of the little guys.
