I need a little help with the ID of this caliper. It looks like some junk yard piece together crap. It's some stupid crap, look at the rotor it's pressed on the inside face of the axle. So I guess to service the rotor I need to pull the axle and press out the studs to get it loose. Who dreams this stuff up? Anyway any one ever seen this brake set up? Can anyone ID the caliper? Brakes are shot and I got to tell the parts guy something.
Little help please.

You are (kinda) correct sir. Looks like an older BC kit or something similar. Calipers should be early 80's vintage Caddy calipers, IIRC. I never did like pressing the rotors onto the rear of the axle flanges either.

IIRC, rotors are off of a mid 70's CJ7, if you need that info.

Nevermind, info is still on their website:

^^ what bart said 2x!

id keep the calipers if they work, and redo the rotor and mounting flange/bracket for caliper

that way, if ya break a rear shaft, you can swap the rotor easily

Yup..that is the Caddy rear disk conversion setup; I'm putting one of those on a 9" soon and have the calipers and brackets already but no rotors yet. Isn't there an option for the rear disk rotor that does not require it be anything but simply slipped over the axle studs?

Yep, 78 jeep front rotors fit. I've installed them on 2 trucks. Requires longer studs and you have to drill a hole so you can access the bearing retainer bolts. Bill I think you shuold be able to handle that, even with your limited tools and skill.:-*

Your vote of confidence means a lot to me, Brett.

Well thanks guys. It kinda makes sense its a BC set up. Amazing. Now what's the trick to get the piston back into the caliper? Depress the emegerency brake lever and screw the piston back in?

On a caddie caliber you have to hold the inner nut on the adjuster while moving the ebrake actuator. BCB has directions on their site. there is a helical screw inside the caliper that self adjusts the brakes each time the e-brake is pressed. It's a realy PIA to work with. You almost need a special wrench to hold the inner nut because the clearance between the nut and actuator is so tight.

Good deal!

To hijack again, I used Suzuki rotors. I've got to give the credit to Ben on our Carolina Bronco's website. I didn't know about it. 91 Sidekick 4door front rotors fit the bill perfect, and slip right over a stock (or aftermarket) axle shaft.

I have used them on a 9" in my truck bed trailer with surge brakes. For a rusty POS trailer it has some good disk brakes on it.

You can also use the rotors as wheel spacers in the front. Plasma torch inside the hat can cut the rotor away leaving just the wheel part of the hat, which pits perfectly over the stock Bronco rotor.

Great thread. Can just the brackets be bought?

Bryce the EB nut.
Yes they are my rear disc brakes. I designed them to be bolt on and everything except the brackets can be bought at any parts store. I put the rotor on the back side of the axle flange (just like it is mounted on the jeep) so you don't have cut the flange down to make the rotor fit. My thinking was if you damage a brake you can disconnect it and go on but if you break a axle you are done until it is replaced and if the flange is cut down you are going to be hard pressed to borrow one.
PS yes you can buy just the brackets.
