Hate that you have to go through all that doghows. And after all that too!
Glad you decided so quickly to just get through it and get it done though. And at a different shop sounds like a good thing to do at this point.

What will they need to do for prep on such a fresh paint job? Still sand the crap out of it, to get it almost all off? Or is it kosher to just do minimal prep for the new coat?

Thanks. Can't wait to see it's new colors.

Oh, and is it going to be a slight variation on this current color? Or something completely different?

The new shop is going to blow off all the clear and use the base as primer. Then apply the correct color and clear over that. Fortunately no body work is needed but still spending about 2k just to respray.
Color is a DuPont factory metallic maroon 44455. It's what I origanlly wanted. The factory color was royal maroon. So same shade just updated to a more modern metallic NO BASS BOAT. Even the painter at the new shop was disgusted with what was on the truck.

Paint is now re done and is the way I wanted it. Good choice although expensive. But I'm happy and she's beautiful. Now to put it together without scratching her!

Almost back together. Should finish tomorrow with the exception of the rear sliding window. Glass is being cut for that now.

Well she is 99% complete just a couple odds and ends to do. Now to start planning the EFI and auto conversion. Here she is in most her new glory.

Just picked up my bronco from my friend and pinstripe hall of fame artist Skip Kratzer. He did some simple stripes on the Bronco. Wow what a differance!
And a piece of wall art too!!

I'm going to give it my best shot. If the shop can handle being without me I'm there.
I'm trying to do the EFI and 4R70W before then so fingers crossed!!
Sorry I just like looking at the Bronco.

Nice. I've always link a subtle amount of pin striping. I had a couple vehicles pin striped back in the late 70's early 80's, by the late pin stripping master Marc Fenyo. It was amazing to watch him lay down perfect symmetrical designs as if he was tracing it from a pattern. A true artist.

Thanks, I forgot I had this thread going. I actually did finish this EFI conversion and the 4R70 trans.
I have another thread going as well, I'm building a matching uncut trailer!

Absolutely love it. I do need lower gears in the axles now but she's doing great.

What did those tires end up at, height-wise, with weight on them? Didn't they come up to about 32" on the ground?

Running 4.56 and 31's that are only 29" tall with weight on them, with that same engine and trans. Man, it gets up and scoots.
Still going to try the 4.11's I have someday because I think the engine will pull pretty strong still at lower rpm. But for now even with that low gearing the overdrive has the engine singing in a happy place at 65-70 and still gets the same 15mpg I could just barely squeak out of the carb at a super steady 55mph.
Cruising easily between 55 and 60, but not being overly diligent about it when passing, I get 19.
