Rust converter under 2k or epoxy primer?

This question is mostly for frames and floor pans. Instead of POR which I have seen mixed reviews about has anyone used rust converter and then epoxy primer over it with good results?

Any experience out there with eastwood 2k Chassis paint?

I think the 2k will work over the converter ok. I would use the converter and try a sample area with both the epoxy primer and the 2k. Just buy a can of each, If it works well then do the rest.
If you have the whole frame bare, personally I would have it sandblasted instead of using the converter.

Frame isnt bare yet. Doing body mounts and other stuff over the winter so this would be a good time to preserve it some.
I was hoping to hit the frame with a wire brush on a variable polisher then converter and primer and top coat.

I used Eastwood's rust encapsulator after wire wheeling the Frame. Eastwood also makes a long round wire wheel brushes for frames, 4 or 5 to a box that worked well in my drill. Brushed it on with a foam brush, buy a few as the paint eats the brush after a while. After drying it was mostly smooth...

After waiting a few days, I then I painted the frame directly with their satin chassis paint. Do not buy quarts if you are not lifting the body off. It was easier to do the paint with rattle cans. I put on a few coats. Wear long sleeves and long pants and use a mask. It is pretty good paint and it has held up well so far... (one year)

Thanks for the pics and info. Good to hear it is holding up. Looks like you used the extreme chassis black amd not the 2k stuff. How has it held up to oil gasoline and stuff?

I have ability to lift body off so was planning on spraying the epoxy primer and sarin black chassis after rust converter or encapsulator cured.

I use the Extreme chassis satin black over the Extreme chassis primer. I don't think the 2k is worth the price but I don't have any input on it's durability.
The rust conveter won't work on bare metal if your planning to do that much rust cleanup. I also wouldn't use the epoxy primer if you go with the extreme chassis black. Use the primer thats designed with your top coat.

I have not had any leaks other than some coolant spray on start-up. Really nothing to report so far...

Best luck I've had is; clean as much rust as you can. Then soak everything using Ospho, sit over night, rough it up with a red scotch bright, then epoxy primer, followed by 2 part paint. Ospho even works on shinny metal.

Thanks for the feedback. This is simialr to the path i was thinking of taking. How different is the Ospho then other rust converter products? I looked it up and it sounds very similar. Other suggest 48hrs before topcoat. Also the directions mention using oil based paints as a topcoat and testing epoxy. Who's epoxy did you use and how long ago?
