What are the differences between liquid and aerosol rust converter? Does one work better than the other? It seems to me that aerosol would be a heck of a lot more convenient, but is there something I'm missing?

Need to be more specific.

Are you talking about a rust converting/encapsulating paint or a liquid/gel like phosphoric acid(Naval Jelly).

Definitely rust converting. I am looking at converters that will also serve as a primer.

I use it. I believe it works. I have used different brands, they seem to look and work the same. Goes on milky white and turns black when it dries. I buy it in gallons or quarts, I like to spray it into all the body seams before I seam seal them. When I spray it I use an air blowing nozzle that has a suction hose that was made to blow out solvent or something. The converter is thin enough to through it. You can hose is on and let run off.

I have used both. The liquid in most cases needs to be rinsed off. I prefer the can for small spots and it turns black. I use the eastwood product.

might want to look into KBS products. they are very good.

X2 on the KBS. While I sandblasted my frame and then used their Rust Blast remover/zinc phosphate prep, I used the Rust Blast on all the other parts directly (linkage, pedals, etc) and it worked great at getting the rust and coating it with zinc in preparation of their Rust Seal. The Rust blast uses a spray bottle and the Seal brushes on like water. A quart did my whole frame.

For simply removing rust, then using a normal primer, try Evapo-rust. Available at most parts stores.
