Wanted to see what was out there for factory interior vinyl color for the 1966s
I saw one last weekend with green and white pony interior At auction, looked to be very original, mine has black and there lots of silver Out there. Any one see any thing different? Why was silver so common?

Silver was all that was offered for benches and buckets both in 66, unless it was one of the mystery Pony Interiors and those were late builds.

Nope, there was not a single Early Bronco from the factory with Black seats. Other than a Raven Black truck, none had black engine compartments either.

66 did not have any interior color Options. Silver only.

Other later years (67-77) were Parchment Interiors unless it was an Explorer or Ranger.

I am not a "Bronco Pony Interior" denier but I'd sure like to see some real documentation on these mystery Broncos! ;D

I think we all would! I bet Todd Z would buy our dinner if we sent him that documentation :) :)

I'm guilty of replacing a bench with the pony buckets in '79. ;)

I was once in doubt that Ford ever did in the Pony interior, but now I am a believer. I have seen many rear seats with the Pony covers and more recently the late '66 with a 289 that auctioned in Oregon last Sunday. It was a good example of the Pony interior. It also had several other very interesting things like a parchment dash, parchment armrest front and rear, parchment door panels, and of course the Pony interior instead of the grey and silver interior. I think Ford was in late '66 with the introduction of the 289 in the Bronco was looking more to the "Sport" theme, and then the "Sport" was introduced a few months later with the '67. My .02 cents anyway.....

Good eye, Dennis! Tim and I were watching that auction as well and were surprised for how much it went for (evidence that Bronco prices may not be declining despite current economic conditions). I believe that's also the earliest known V8 VIN now? Or close to it? (Maybe the black one noted on here a bit earlier is lower, I don't recall).

I'm not a 'Pony interior denier' either - I'm always a big fan of factory documentation too but I've seen too many of these now not to believe that it was something Ford did in the latter months of the '66 model year.

And okie4570 - let's ask Tim to buy dinner - he's a bigger roller than I am, but I'll buy drinks! :)
