"The recall document says that the problem could affect more than 450,000 6-ton jack stands produced between 2013 and 2019 and nearly 1.3 million 3-ton jack stands produced between 2012 and 2020. These jack stands were sold under the Pittsburg brand name, and can be identified by item numbers 56371 or 61196 on 3-ton models, and 61197 on 6-ton models"

Holy Cow...I've got several vehicles up on those jacks as I write, with all the wheels off.
Thank you. The Chinese strike again. If it isn't a lab virus now it's jack stands?

I got to thinking. If the jack/s give out and you are killed, well, that's the end of it.
But, what's worse is, if you are married and only injured...

I'm leaving that page open until I check all of mine, but so far the two that look just like the gray ones have a different part number. So far, so good...

Paul, I am in the same boat... Mine look similar to the pictured 6 ton, but has no large sticker. There is different numbers, on a small white round sticker. I just called HF, only to get told to call another number... by a real person no less! The next number (1-800-444-3353) tells you that they are short staffed due to C-19 and the fastest way to get a response is to email them, but if you want to wait on hold then who knows how long that will be... Email was sent and waiting for a reply.

Annnd just got a response that they are having a high volume of emails and mine will be reviewed by a Service Rep. shortly...

My 6 tons are Orange in color and the stickers are still on. No numbers match for me so I guess I'm good to go.

Will be using them this weekend....

Fellers, go to youtube as there is a guy that shows the teeth on the recall stands vs. the acceptable teeth on a good stand. Type in Harbor Freight recalls. I took mine back yesterday and got a store gift card for when the good ones come in.

i checked one of my sets this morning and its not one of the part numbers impacted. lucky break. i wonder if there is some sort of regionality to the distribution of the NG part numbers. i bought mine right in the middle of the recall timeframe and not a listed part number.

Isn't one of the orange ones included in the recall? Either way I'd check numbers rather than go by color.

And in checking my gray ones, and though they are not among the recalled, I can kind of see why there might be an issue.
Next time you have yours out, pull the extension up about half way and rock it back and forth. Does your handle and pawl rotate noticeably with the movement? I wonder if this loose fit in the throat has anything to do with the safety issue of the recalled ones.
If the teeth of the other ones are more shallow, or if there is less bite from that particular pawl design, maybe when it rocks it can release.

If mine are not returnable, I may still try to tighten up the fit between the extension piece (forget what it's called) and the stand body. Reduce the rocking motion a little bit. I think you want a little rock, but not this much.
I'll check some of my older USA made stands to see if they're the same.

Are the orange one are good or do I need to check numbers?

I would not go by color. I got lucky and my stickers were still on. I've had these for years. 6 ton orange in color model no. P38847 Made in China on the sticker

If in doubt swap them out......

Using mine now. Sam is getting new gears.....Already had my fist issue....wheel bearings are shot.....Project over budget $60 and I've put less than an hour into it....lol
