I received the Vintage Air Gen V kit earlier this week.

So tonight I tried installing the compressor. And I quickly ran into a problem. First a little back information. I lowered the coil packs, using Migs, custom bracket. And I am using Wild Horse's, Saginaw power steering pump and Sanden SD7 compressor bracket. With this combination of brackets. The drivers side coil pack, wiring plug, interfers with the compressor bracket. In the next picture. This is the coil packs lifted up 3/4" by placing some nuts under the bracket.

The plug is still very close to the bracket. So tomorrow. I'm going to make a pair of spacers, starting at 1.500". And see how it looks. I will probably shorten them up a bit. Will see. Luckily, I'm starting out with about 2 1/2" of hood clearance , above the plug wires.

I will show you what I end up with. If someone else goes with this combination of brackets.
We ended up modifying the stock bracket, I will post a pic tomorrow.

Probably not going to be ready for Wisconsin. But working hard to finish by September, to attend either or both the Throwback and Buena Vista events. Heck your visit may be the only event I make this season. I hope not.

Is that the correct orientation for the shackles?
I can’t remember if we’ve talked about it already, but the factory shackles mount, like yours, with the open end facing rearward.
Most, if not all, aftermarket shackles have the open end facing the spring.
Just looked like on the previous page that you had aftermarket shackles.
With yours it might not matter. But figured I’d mention it.

Hi Paul,

I have the aftermarket shackles made by CBer, Migs. They are open on both sides. Featuring a centered web. Heres a couple pictures. I think I have them installed correctly. Thanks for questioning my setup. Because I have been known to put things on backwards.

I wondered if they were from MiGs. Couldn’t tell for sure didn’t remember what they looked like. In this case, you’re probably right, and there is no backwards or forwards. Of course, we can always check in with him!

Here is my solution to the interference issue. With the drivers side coil pack plug and the A/C compressor bracket. I am running the MIGS lowered, coils bracket. Which is quite a bit lower than stock. And more than enough to allow me to raise it some to clear the A/C bracket. And still have plenty of hood clearance above the coils. So I made two 5/8" diameter by 1 3/8" long stand offs. That are threaded through 5/16-18 and have 1/2" wrench flats milled into them.
PXL_20250512_234336366.jpg
I then cut two lengths of 5/16-18, 316 SS, threaded rod. The rod is then placed into the lower manifold bolt holes and the stand off thread on to the rod and tightened. To approximately the torque spec. for the lower intake bolts.
PXL_20250512_235749855.jpg
PXL_20250512_235754086.jpg

Then the coil pack bracket is place on to the stand offs and held on with nuts.
PXL_20250512_235953173.jpg

Here is a picture of the coils in place showing the clearnace I was able to achieve.
PXL_20250513_002037911.jpg

Next I reinstalled the plug wires and called it a night.

1/2 way to everywhere
Not knowing how much pressure there is on the driver's side plug wires against the rear of the AC compressor, I might be looking for some sort of anti-abrasion type of material to prevent wearing through the spark plug wire insulation. I don't have any suggestions of what to use. If this was my old Rat Truck, it would be duct tape!

Maybe fabricate a bracket to hold a four hole spark plug wire holder that can be bolted to one of the bolts going into the back side of the compressor

Over the last couple days. I addressed the plug wires behind the A/C compressor and the Alternator. I fabricated a 2" riser with a 60 degree mounting surface. for the last 4 wire holder. The riser has 10-32 threaded holes at both mounting surfaces for attachment of the wire holder and to the mounting plate. This modification, worked out better than I expected. Here are a few pictures.

And last night. Bruners4 was over to help me out. We started trial fitting the A/C condenser and dryer. To get the condenser closer to the core support. We found that we needed to remove a couple 1/2" ribs from this bracket.
PXL_20250516_020844538.jpg

And I am going to have to remove about a 1/2" from the lower core support area. The black painted area, to approximately the blue painters tape. Do we ever get to a point where we can just bolt something up. Without having to make a modification?

No more work on the Bronco until next week. You all have a great weekend.

Thanks everyone. Tonight I proceed to cut back the lower core support. I used a nibbler for most of the length. And a die grinder at each end, near the lower radiator support. Luckily, this area is out of site. Not my best work.

Don't worry about it too much. Only a few will know about it after it is all together. A little touch-up paint and it will be looking great.
A got the dryer mounted and all the boo boos touched up tonight. I didn't take any pictures. See you Thursday?

Or as a construction supervisor would tell us, “Can’t see it from MY house.”

Of course, in the end, @gnsteam will be the only one that knows where his boo-boo is so is still a great looking rig.

Not a lot of progress on the Bronco to report. However I hosted a visit from @mustanggarage.

He had posted on his build thread. Some testing of the cruise control he installed in his rig. And that he needed to make a longer driver for more testing. So I suggested he drive over to Lincoln for a visit. And to my pleasant surprise, he took me up on the invitation. Also present for the visit was @Bruners4. He brought his 6G First addition 2 door.

We had a great time. Sharing our rigs, our Bronco experiences and our lives in general. Thank you Chad so much for taking the time to drive over for a visit. I hope to see more of you and your Bronco in the future. And thank you to David, for helping me with my project almost every Thursday night.

Thanks for the invite. It was a great visit. I enjoyed meeting you and Bruners4 as well as your wife, and checking out your Broncos and garage.
