435’s are not bringing the money they once did. The last one I sold I got $100 for it. The 205 id guess about $250?

I got a 205 a while back for a couple hundred and rebuilt it for another couple hundred.

As for the 435, they are not very desirable anymore. Everyone is putting an AX15 or automatic transmissions now. I think you would be lucky to get $500 for it.

i literally hate the 435's but i guess them being 100% rebuilt and the fact that they are '''''married''''' supposedly makes them more valuable?
thoughts on value increase due to those stats?

Does your friend have receipts from the rebuilder? That will help. Being in SoCal, I assume, shops are gonna charge a premium for this stuff. If he gets 1,000 for both he did good, even with the rebuild.

The 4x4 NP435 you're selling isn't the correct one for use in an EB with a Dana 20. As such, this would only be usable for someone planning on using the whole thing as an assembly. I've never seen one installed in an EB in this configuration. Going to be a difficult sell to the EB group.

It is do able I ran this set up in a trail bronco and loved it! But as others have said it's not an ideal set up for early broncos being used for mostly street use.I would think someone that needed one for a ford F series truck or 78-79 bronco would love to have it if they were going to keep there rig stock /original .

$4k is unrealistic.

The NP435 was the go to choice because it was the cheap way to get a low gear back when people made trail rigs out of Broncos. Nobody is taking a good Bronco and converting it into a cheap trail rig anymore. The ZF has replaced the NP435 in that it has an overdrive. I'm going to say the same for full size stuff as well. There are plenty of NP435s left in the world, just not much demand for them. The rebuilt part probably doesn't add any value. If there are receipts from a shop that has a warranty, sure. Rebuilt in your garage and never run, I find more value in the used one that has had years of good service and nobody has been in it. I know what that will be. Probably the best market will be for a full size market with someone who let theirs go bad (ran it out of oil, parked it full of water). And even then they are looking for a cheap fix, because if they are going to spend money they will just pick up a ZF and gain an overdrive.

The 205 has some value. Driver's side drop was only used by Ford. The market will be a later model (as in the past 35 years) GM and Dodge crowd. But the rebuilt won't mean much, they will have to take it apart to swap in the input shaft of there liking.

If he is fixed on that price, he is going to own it forever. $400 is more reasonable.

i appreciate all the responses.
i appreciate all the knowledgeable opinions.
i 100% agree.

he is in deeper on $ with these two boxes, yes he could get receipts, they were 100% rebuilt by a very reputable, one of the last good ones around, manual transmission shop.
but i hear ya, they could be gold plated and its still not going to change the demand.

he wants to try it at $3,500 and see what time will bring?

thank you all

If he really wants to sell it then that price is just wasting time. I sold my last set up for 350 and people were not lined up even at that price.

Sad as professional shops, in bay area and SoCal, are 150+/hr, high quality bearings aren't cheap either.
As BBowsher stated, no reason to rebuild these units unless ran without oil or water damaged. Those units are as tough as they get.
Such a great, robust setup prior to the 5 speeds/Atlas as all have stated.
Your friend should just use them on his rig.

Yeah, I picked up a NP435 and adaptor here in Houston but ultimately decided on the AX15. Sitting in my garage if someone wants to make an offer.
