Are you sure about your diagnosis?

1. When you say: "roller rockers seized" What does that mean? The roller rocker consists of a trunnion (could be roller) , and a roller tip. Did your tips seize, or did your trunnions fail?
2. Intake gaskets double stacked and not sealing well? Please explain. Double stacked, I understand. But how does that translate to oil consumption? What does a "ton of build-up" look like to you? Discoloration of the intake tract, or actual leak path evidence? Because if the intake manifold gasket was leaking enough to suck oil out of the lifter galley then it probably wouldn't run. Something is goofy here.

Do yourself a favor. If the heads are still on it, clean all of the surfaces, and check the fit of the intake to the heads with no gaskets. Since it is a new block casting, It is entirely possible that your deck height is incorrect, (too tall) and the assembler didn't make a "mistake" vs installing double gaskets because he needed to fill the gap. It takes some effort to make a mistake like that.

But far more important.

Bent push rods + stuck trunnion = lack of oil at the top end. Scored lifters, and a scored cam? You have an oil problem. IDK why you are not getting oil to the top end, buy you are going to want to prime your oil pump, and verify the oil squirt out the pushrods and lifters. There is a restriction somewhere, and your top end is going dry. Bad rockers? NO way! The factory pedestal rocker had NO rollers. When properly lubricated, there is enough lubrication that they can slide on the tip for 200,000 miles.

If it were mine, it would already be in the crate going back. You have an unresolved top end oiling issue, and it's not going to fix itself with new rockers. Metal has been recirculating in your crankcase. It needs an oil pump, and a thorough cleaning. Which includes bearings. I see a lot of symptoms, and no root cause. I'm going to say it now. Unless it had the wrong lifters in it, you haven't fixed anything. Whatever was wrong is still wrong.
agreed, as soon as I saw double gaskets, thats an obvious sign of poor mechanical ability and knowledge. Back to seller and ask for refund, cause how do you know it wont happen again?

Who is this again? I would blow up social media as soon as you have a fix in hand.

This is Blueprint? Hey #blueprint, what up??

I am supposed to hear back by end of day today on what they plan on doing if anything. Its been 2 1/2 weeks since I started the process and all it is everytime I can get someone to respond is a request for more photos.

If anyone is considering an engine from blueprint run dont walk away.

No one ever got in touch with Monday as I was told. I called and called yesterday. They are definitely screening my calls. Had to call from a different number. Then on hold forever. Was told the supervisor that I need to speak to who this has been handed over to was in a morning meeting and would call me by end of day. Waiting till 1 hour before closing then called back. Got a different person who told me that supervisor was out for the day.

I am guessing there tactic with warranty stuff is to just try to drag it out long enough that people just give up?

Feel kinda bad as I snapped on the phone to the warranty receptionist but this is definitely not how I pictured this going. Was going to start blowing up there social media pages if i dont get an answer today. Will be 3 weeks since I started this process tomorrow and am no further along.

Feel the worst for my wife as she is going to miss her yearly trip to the beach with her friends that she looks forward to with her bronco.

What a mess

Don't really have any local builders that I get a good feeling with and was recommended prestige motorsports from a few people. Anyone have any experience with them? I dont want to shell at for another motor but have zero faith at this point that blueprint is going to do a single thing and if they do how long will it last.

I hate to read stories like this one. I'm glad I'm still able to build all my own engines and have a very good local machine shop to perform the operations that I can't in my own shop. But for how much longer...

Knowing what my office looks like this week, see what happens next week.
Probably a third of my office took this week off for a long 4th holiday. Maybe they did as well? Just poor communication about it. But at this point next week there better be some answers.

After many many calls they finally let me talk to the supervisor that needed to ok everything.
They will only send me the replacement parts.
Oil pump, gaskets, lifters, cam, pushrods and roller rockers. Wont take the engine back to go through it. Couldnt even get a reason. Even then they wanted me to just run that camshaft and lifters till I spazed out. Its like trying to bargain with an insurance agent. They definitely just try and drag the process out till you give up.

Claims they have seem rockers fail like that! wtf

I guess at this point I will take it to a machine shop and see if they can go through it and reassemble. I dont know what else to do.

Bummer. With this story, I will attempt my own rebuild in the future rather than go crate. I'd rather my own efforts fail that I can learn from versus leaving it in the hands of modern day quality control. I have been very fortunate enough to assemble three engines with an old geezer engine builder mentor.

I hope the rebuild works out for you. thanks for sharing your experience for the rest of us to digest.

I’m really glad I don’t go to blue print for my motor. It was top of my list until I did a coyote. Lots of shitty customer service now days. Sorry you are going through this.

Where are you located?
I would File a formal complaint against BPE and try to get the news company to take interest, blow them up on FB too.
I will try to find a contact in your area and connect you with a competent machine shop.
Sorry you had such a bad experience, yes you will end paying more but you will cry once.

Sorry in advance for the length of this post.

This might be a stretch, but this is how I found a great engine builder.
In 1993 I went to a body shop to get a paint estimate on my 1975 Bronco.

My girlfriend at that time (now my wife) suggested I check out this particular shop. She was a manicurist at the time, and her client was the wife of a local race car driver.

Before I went to get the estimate my bronco blew both head gaskets. The engine only had about 6k miles on it. I was never happy with the first rebuild. It never ran correctly.
It had a miss that the builder tried to pass off as a "lope" from the cam.
I ended up reporting him to the California BAR, who never even took the time to look at my engine before siding with the shop.

Long story short about that engine is it was a piece of crap!

Anyway, when I was getting the paint estimate I mentioned the engine problems.
The guy tells me about a place called JWA machine shop.
He said, "he builds Dick Shepherd's race engines."
Dick Shepherd was a local race car driver, and the husband of my wife's client.
I believe he was also part owner of the body shop.

I got the info for JWA machine shop, and a few months later I went from a crappy running 302, to a custom built 351W.

I got lucky finding a good engine builder. If you have a local racetrack, you could go ask the drivers about who builds their engines.

Just a thought.

In Bakersfield? I’ll have to make note of this place.

York, PA. Trying to at least get the parts in hand before blowing up there social media but that was the plan. I did email the CEO but i know that isnt going anywhere. Just a serious let down. Guessing most people that buy there engines dont put a lot of miles on them and the warranty 2 1/2 years 50k miles runs out before they get much time on them. Thanks for the help.

It really sucks that you are going through this, but I appreciate the information. I have been trying to get Blueprint to respond to my questions for quite a while now, but keep getting nothing in return. All they had to do was take a few minutes to answer simple questions and I would most likely have an engine from them sitting in my bronco. I emailed, called, and used the Contact form (several times). I guess I am thankful they didn't follow up in any meaningful way. Now I am back to finding a local engine builder. Good luck with your situation, hopefully a local shop can help you out, probably not in time for your wife's trip though. :(

I came here and searched for "Blueprint" because I was just about to place an order for a 302 with FI. Thanks for the time you took to share your experience. This is not what I was hoping to hear, but I really appreciate it. I hope they are on this thread, and understand how much this behavior impacts future sales.

Automotive machine in Scottsdale Az, I went to school with the guy, he never left, keeps threatening to retire, and has rebuilt many Barrett Jackson level engines for million dollar vehicles. Including my Broncos 347.

Who NOT to use? Phoenix Engine by Deer Valley airport. My friends shop was 5 months backed up. So I went with these guys to bore hone align a block, They said 30 days. 5 months later I get it back, they said its out back, its sitting outside in the rain, rusted on the deck. Took my friend two days to remove the rust.
