Quiet mud tires?

I have KM3s on my bronco and on my F-350. This is my second set on my one ton and I put 58k on the first set. They are a really quiet tire for the first half of the tread life and they are a lot quieter than most mud grips for the remainder of their life. I’m a big fan of the KM3 and BFG tires altogether. In comparison my dad run the Nitto Trail Grappler MT on his F150 and they are noisy as hell when they wear through the initial soft compound of the tread. Also, I had a set of KM2s BFGs on my old 86 Bronco before I sold it and those were quite a bit louder than the KM3.

It is funny how much the vehicle can make a difference in tire noise. One of me sets of the original BFG Mud Terrain started life on my '75 CJ5, and finished up on my '95 F-150. They made a lot more noise on the F-150 than they did on the Jeep. I think the TTB front suspension and radius arms provided a better path for the vibration to travel as opposed to the leaf springs on the Jeep that more damped things out.

Of course here we're talking about mostly all the vehicles being early Broncos, so there's less difference. But still, the vehicle can affect things.

I didn't see mention of Toyos....I've been running the 40" Open country M/Ts on my '78 Bronco for a few years now and very pleased with balance and noise level. Far better than the 37" Pro Comps I had on it before.

I'm right in the middle of mounting a set of 315/75r16 Toyo Open Country R/Ts on my F-250...can't say there is a lot of obvious difference in the tread appearance compared to the M/Ts on my Bronco. Replacing a set of Goodyear Wranglers that stil have 90% tread but failing due to dry rot (13 years old). The Wranglers were pretty noisy.
Didn't see your post or I wouldn't have been quite so hard on the Toyo's! :( I am looking for different things in tires than many.

They don't roll either tho. On Toyo's web page a few yrs ago they rated rolling resistance of all Toyo's tires. The M/Ts were rated a 1 of 5.
I wouldn't have thought a thing but I have lived in the same house I built in '86 and drive down the same hill towards town every day.
So I tried pushing in the clutch on our 2% grade on the 3 mile long down hill grade starting at 50mph. I came to a stop. No joke. I know I'm in a billboard shaped Bronco but...

I will try it why my MThompson Baja Boss MTs when I get home next weekend. Off kayaking for a break this week.. Even set to remind me on my calendar because I forgot to do the db test on my tires like I said I would. :O. lol

I have KM3 on my EB. 37x12.5x17. Not sure on the noise as all is noisy in my truck. I am struggling on getting them to track well. Many different tire pressures and toe settings and still the truck does not drive very stable. Always seems to want to wander. Other than that no issues yet.

Might change this winter but not sure.

My old BFG MTs got noisier with age on my Bronco
That was definitely the case with the ProComp Xterrains I had on the '78 Bronc...they not only got real noisy with more than 50% tread left, and they started promoting death wobble too.
