    gm brake conversion

So I spent 20 min on the phone with the Ebay seller of the Caliper brackets - he claims the only difference between the 84-91 brackets I have and the earlier brackets is the caliper cut out in the backing plate - the later one isn't symmetric up/down - so it's impossible to install the calipers...

    gm brake conversion

Yep - ground on the knuckle and just a bit on the caliper itself. Even did a dry fit of the caliper on the bracket with the rotor off the spindle - just to figure out the knuckle/caliper clearance - all is good after a bit of work with the flap disc...

    gm brake conversion

Thx Paul... I should mention that I bought the spindles from Wild Horses (excellent price, high quality, inner bearing and seal already installed) - two thumps up for those - and I know they're not the problem. The caliper brackets came from an ebay seller in Utah... and you'd think they'd...

    gm brake conversion

This thread is from 2018 but I think I have the same issue. My caliper won't fit over the rotor - the inner pad won't fit - the caliper is too close to the inner surface of the rotor. I mounted the spindle first, then the caliper mount plate over the spindle - so I think that's correct. The GM...

After market tilt column on ebay. (anyone use one of these)?

Why are the steering columns different? So the Ebay vendor offers 66-73, 74-75, and 76-77 steering columns... what are the differences? I can see that some of them are "key in the column" models - which were NEVER offered as far as I know... I know that Autos weren't an option until 1972 or...

TX WTB: C4 Transmission Tailshaft Housing

I have a C4 but need the tail shaft housing/adapter that adapts the C4 to the input of the D20 Transfer case. I believe this adapter also has the two mounts that tie into the transmission cross member. PM me or email f1jim64 (AT) aol (DOT) com

Trick Flow High Port Heads - Header Issues?

Nvstuk - I bought this Coast stroker kit used in the box- and it was already balanced to 28oz by Coast. That's going to make me send my Exploder damper to Damper Dudes for a re-balance - but hey what's another $150 of Bronco funny money? The block/assy drive is a 96 Exploder 5.0. The seller...

Trick Flow High Port Heads - Header Issues?

Wallace Racing Calculator My stroker kit is the Coast Performance Pro street 4.030 bore with the -4cc flat top pistons (they do have valve reliefs cut into them - and should be good for cams up to .600 lift) Using a 4.030 bore, 3.25 stroke, 60cc chamber, .041 head gasket, -4cc piston dish...

Trick Flow High Port Heads - Header Issues?

Thanks guys - I think it's the deck height that was stopping me from using the Summit calculator. I probably didn't make it clear that I already have the stroker kit with the -4cc pistons - so I'm locked into those. If I run the Summit CR tool with zero deck ht and a 0.040 head gasket using...

Trick Flow High Port Heads - Header Issues?

nvrstuk - 1 inch body lift And yes I'm definately looking for headers with 1 5/8" primaries. Thus the plan to use the BC headers. I am NOT a small block Ford guy by background - so YES, I need help calculating the CR - I'm guessing that a 60cc chamber ain't exactly big if I'm running -4cc...

Trick Flow High Port Heads - Header Issues?

Found a deal on some Trick Flow High port heads - they have two sets of header bolts per exhaust port. Good deal but worried that these are only good for go-fast Mustang Boys. Planning to use these on a 331 stroker with BC Broncos headers. Worried that none of the Bronco vendor headers are...

351W Conversion - Any way to keep the AC?

Exploder front dress will give you an AC comp. fits on my 351w. Just gotta drill access holes in the inner fender if you want to get the compressor bolts out without removing the bracket from the block.

    Problem rebuilding PS box

Top sector shaft bearing mystery solved ! OK, First thanks for the link, Ben - one of your pics shows me how far I need to tap in the top sector shaft bearing (leave it just a little below the surface of the housing). Your teflon ring boiling trick will also be useful - thanks again. But...

    Problem rebuilding PS box

Can't remove top sector shaft bearing !!! OK - I searched 15 thread steering box threads - and I didn't see an answer to this one. I'm rebuilding my Saginaw PS box - and I can't get the top sector shaft (pitman arm shaft) bearing out of the box. The bronco Saginaw has two Torrington BH-2020...

I have a question about the Explorer serp…..

I'm guessing that you didn't have to remove the hub off your old pump and press it on to your new Explorer pump? For sure, you can press the pulley onto the shaft at whatever depth you want - I usually use the 45 deg bevel on the end of the pump shaft as my guide - and let the 45 chamfered end...

    This Explorer power steering sucks

More fun with Explorer pumps... OK RanchTruck... now that BOTH you and Dan told me to bypass the HB, I guess I'll do it... :p I did actually do that when I had my FIRST pump installed (and the Russell o-ring pump output fitting that was blocking most of the flow) - and found that I still had...

    This Explorer power steering sucks

New idea for the day - steering box check valves? Kyle - my tee is opposite of what you suggest I think: the PS return line runs "straight thru" and the hydroboost return comes in at a 90. I thought I read that it should be this way because almost all the flow is in the PS loop and very little...

    This Explorer power steering sucks

Well... I'm down to lack of assist at idle, and nothing has blown up so I'm pretty sure the plumbing is correct. Only change I can think of at this point is to add a PSC dual return reservoir. (or a BC broncos 2 into 1 filter) I can see the fluid "churning" inside the Explorer plastic res. but...

    This Explorer power steering sucks

Yeah I know there have been a hundred posts on bleeding your hydroboost & steering - and they all say the same thing - jack the front end up - go lock to lock and hit the brakes a million times. It just doesn't seem to help. That's why I'm tempted to try Ransil's method - although I'm afraid of...

    This Explorer power steering sucks

Thanks Ransil - I will try that. Did you crank the motor over on the starter or actually start it while you drained it into a bucket? And you can always depend on the Penn guys for a good answer. My Dad grew up around Uniontown & Brownsville - those coal miners are good people. (District 12 for...
