TX 78/79 bronco 9in rear end

The 73-79 truck axles are the same, just a heads up. Bronco axles almost always had 3.50 gears and the truck axles rarely had 3.50 gears is the only difference I know of and were usually higher like 3.25 or 3. That won't matter if you are changing ratios anyway.

Don't let them sit too long!!!!

I drove for 40 minutes out of town once then stopped to get gas. Popped the hood to check my oil while I was filling up and a squirrel was standing on my intake looking at me. We both stared at each other for 10 seconds in disbelief then he slowly climbed down and walked off. I looked around...

    Lets see some green.....

That's what color my '71 U14 was originally. I am going back to it and really excited now after going back and forth so many times on color choice. I have a thread going in my signature for it.

    Just saw this article today.

They have been showing up as sponsored ads on Facebook lately and must be fairly new? There are some guys doing excellent restoration work so the bar is set pretty high with these beloved classics, I hope they are one of them.

    Money Pit - Phase III

I saw you on a new BSF Recovery video posted three weeks ago when you got stuck in the mud! Why did you choose a C4 over a C6? It looks like the one you had built will certainly handle the power. I have a mildly built 351W and I'm going to run a C4/D20 behind it for now then upgrade as I need.

    spreadsheet build estimator/actual

I have several Broncos in various stages and I document everything on Mircosoft Word because I'm not great with Excel. I have a manilla envelope also that I keep the reciepts in. I could've had one really nice Bronco by now but instead I've spread the $$$ towards each one, wouldn't do it that...

Which pair of axles should I build?

It really is about the numbers with this. I did some quick math and I'm looking at $2k+ to build a 9 like a one ton. I already have the 10.25 so wanted to save a little money with it but sounds like more headache than it's worth. I was thinking about weight balance also and how keeping a D44...

    Truetrac vs Detroit

I love my TrueTrac. It locks both tires up like a locker and drives great on the street. I ran trails all weekend long with no slipping in the rear from it with 36" tires.

    Old school lift?

No because I installed some old school springs and as mentioned above, they aren't like the springs of today but I was okay with that since I had them laying around. Take some degreaser and a power washer to yours before you crawl under it and start working and get everything as clean as...

    Old school lift?

I bought a Bronco once with the same kind of thing going on. I took it off quick and put some taller coils on it.

Which pair of axles should I build?

I'm leaning towards the D44 for the front for the simplicity and drivability. I have some new Yukon Chrome Moly shafts for it and a Grizzly locker that I was saving for another project but can use them. After running some numbers, the 10.25 will be a lot cheaper to build since it is already 35...
