    Muffler choices

On a side note, and I hate to start sounding like a Mustang parts hoarder, but that stock original perfect shape low mileage exhaust system is probably worth $1000 to somebody who’s trying to do a full original restoration on their bronco. That’ll get you a lot of aftermarket exhaust.

    Sorry, yet another Duraspark thread

Or you could “cheat” and get a cheap Dura spark module with cooling fins on the body, gut it, install a GM HEI module inside, wire it accordingly, and run around with 12 V powering the system. You could even use a modern E-core coil as well, for even more power and reliability. But it...

    Sorry, yet another Duraspark thread

Don’t use 74 or 75, or perhaps even 76 as your go to. Order a module for a 77. For a coil, someone else will have to jump in on that one. All the blue models use the resistor for the coil. Not sure if an internally resisted coil is sufficient to keep the module happy. But it may very well be...

    Sorry, yet another Duraspark thread

Except for the caps and rotors and adapter, all the Duraspark distributors for Broncos were the same. Only the modules changed. Same three wire connector to the distributor, different connector or connectors to the rest of the system. Same compatible gears with your 69, because rollers didn’t...

    Fitech back to Carb....

Which exact distributor model did you get for the previous install? Maybe it’s already to run as it is?

    Dim gauges

That’s great! Glad to hear something finally worked. Especially after all the work you went to to install a brand new harness! Usually, that’s not as big an Issue with aftermarket harnesses because they typically have dedicated grounds for the dash lights. Maybe Painless has modified the way...

363W Build - Excessive Cam Lift at Valve?

After all this, I wonder what an actual 1.72 rocker measures.

    Duraspark II retrofit in 70

Factory mounted it on the wheel well for a reason. It’s generally a cooler area than most under the hood. You definitely want it to be as cool as possible. Potting or not. I remember testing different areas of the engine compartment before installing the Dura Spark setup on my ‘71. Testing...

1970 Bronco Turned over once now NO POWER to anything

I see a couple of things worth commenting on. Looks like you have a “one wire“ 3G Alternator. This is a self-exciting model that does not need the green with red stripe exciter wire. Even though it has been working for you without trouble, I would pay very close attention to your black charge...

TBP floor shifter - Won't go in Reverse

Got it. Thanks. It’s OK, either way, of course. But if the lift is done with spacers, like traditional lifts are, the new bushings are certainly called for. Especially in a “while you’re in there” kind of way. 😁 It can be either an easy job, or a really big hassle job. Hopefully yours is the...

TBP floor shifter - Won't go in Reverse

So does that mean you ordered replacement body bushings AND separate 1 inch spacers? Or did you buy a 1 inch body lift that includes 1 inch taller body bushings?

How does an improperly adjusted air door end up causing a fire? That sounds like a pretty important step!

1970 Bronco Turned over once now NO POWER to anything

See that small hole just below the starter relay in your picture? That’s the original body ground location. Do you currently have a ground dedicated to a body panel from the battery? Two things on the battery side of the starter relay. What is that wire connector that looks like it is just...

1970 Bronco Turned over once now NO POWER to anything

Thanks for all the pics. I’ll try to address a few things. I see shortly. Your fuse box definitely needs cleaning. It’s OK to address that at any point because it’s relatively straightforward and doesn’t take much time. However, the fuse box isn’t part of the problem of losing power to...

23 Gallon gas tank help - no fuel issue

Two bad mechanical fuel pumps in a row is not uncommon. In fact, four or five defective mechanical fuel pumps in a row from the same supplier, is all too common! An electric fuel pump needs to be a pusher, not a puller. In some cases they work, but in most they don’t. You need to mount an...

363W Build - Excessive Cam Lift at Valve?

Interesting too, that 1.72 is also a common rocker arm ratio.

    Jeff's Rear Poly EFI tank?

My original factory tank had its filler tube and hose crunching down on the top of the frame rail, when my original body mounts were deteriorating.

I remember the Chatsworth address. In fact, before they closed, I think I even went in there one time. Of course, that’s happened more than a few times to companies that I’ve known over the years.

Time for C-Bushings. Which degree should I get?

Two scenarios I can think of. One is that, over the years, one of the previous owners had to change out a radius arm. Either for being bent, rusted, or otherwise compromised. The other is that, being a 74, that’s right about the time a lot of things were changing. Little details, such as going...
