Alright fellas , got the new carb installed , new fuel pump w/vacuum installed , everything hooked up . Truck has good spark and is cranking over strong . When I got it started it was like it was running away ? Too much fuel ? Too much air ? Both ? I will reiterate, I am NOT a mechanic . However I do feel confident with the work I’ve done thus far . I started it a few times and like I said it was like it was wide open , now it’s not starting at all . Like it’s not getting fuel . The carb is an autolite 1100 if that helps . I just don’t know enough of how to make the adjustments possibly needed . Thanks for any info ! 🇺🇸🇺🇸

Lots of good mechanics on this site. Also take a look at fordsix.com when you can they are for Ford six owners only.

Look at Mike's Carburetor on YouTube. He's got several 1100 help videos on there. 1100 are super simple to adjust correctly.

Hi, X2 on Fordsix.com. There are a couple of things to check. First, look down the carb and open the throttle, engine off. You should see the accelerator pump squirt. If you see the squirt, you have gas in the carb. When my engine is cold I have to pump the pedal a couple of times.
Next, a vacuum leak can cause a high idle.
If the choke is not fully open you could be on high idle.
There are two idle adjustment screws. To set the mixture screw gently turn it in, and back it out 2 turns. Next make sure the throttle stop is resting on the idle adjustment screw. If it is not on the screw, something is holding it open. You should have two return springs..
Before you set the mixture screw and the idle rpm you should set the ignition timing. These engines like a little more initial timing then the specs give. Changing the timing will change the rpms.
So if you can get the idle down to @700 rpm slowly turn in the mixture screw until the engine stumbles and back it out until the engine is smooth. Last, adjust the idle screw to @650 rpm.
A great book for the Ford Six guys is the Ford Falcon Performance Handbook.
Good luck
