1967 California Emissions

Does anyone have an under-hood picture of a stock 1967 V8 Bronco with DSO of 71 or 72?

I think that CA emissions should include a thermactor pump, but I've never seen one intact.

My Bronco is a passenger car, (not U14) with a build date of June of 1967.

RockAuto lists a fan belt for "alternator and air pump" so I'm guessing it should be there.

THANKS!

I've seen '66's with Thermactors, but I thought they skipped the '67. Maybe not, and it was just some other years, but I know they skipped the pump quite often on Broncos. Them being in that gray category of "truck" one year, "passenger car" the next, and "utility vehicle" or whatever other category they used.
Sorry I don't have any pics to back anything up though. Only some later models like '76 with air pumps, but that would be a completely different beast.

You restoring one back to it's original glory?

Rock Auto parts guide has errors. Not as bad as Amazon, but still has them. Most all the parts guides have errors in them. One of the more famous one is the oil pressure sender has a warning light option, which no Bronco had a warning light.

Have you tried one of the other parts stores guides? Napa, O'reilly, Checker?

Hi Paul,

Yep, I just bought a 1967 U13 Roadster with the factory V8...Late production, San Jose DSO, and totally rust free. Manual Brake, manual steering, 3 on the tree. Factory bench seat, and its Blue! It's a cream puff...and worthy of restoration.

So I'm looking for the correct underhood appearance. (and of course I want it to be smog legal!)

Could use all the help I can find...

You are aware the vehicle requirements for smog equipment is no longer needed, right? Or, do you want it just for looks. Or, it was a joke and I'm too dense ?

I have only seen this setup on 67's so far. Might be hard to locate.

I am aware that the vehicle was produced with California emissions, and I am now convinced that included Thermactor Air Injection. (a smog pump.)

As such, it belongs on the vehicle, and it is unlawful to remove it.

I don't want to argue about the legality. Or whether it is enforced, or whether anyone will notice. (...I will admit that I was trolling a little) Here's the Federal statute:

42 USC 7522 (A) (3) (A). The following acts and the causing thereof are prohibited — for any person to remove or render inoperative any device or element of design installed on or in a motor vehicle or motor vehicle engine in compliance with regulations under this subchapter prior to its sale and delivery to the ultimate purchaser, or for any person knowingly to remove or render inoperative any such device or element of design after such sale and delivery to the ultimate purchaser; .

The search is on! I recognize the inlet filter, it looks like 67 Mustang 6 cyl. I'll need a 3 port 1967 pump, and of course there's going to be a diverter and check valve somewhere...

Any info about anyone that has any smog stuff would be much appreciated.

THANKS!!!

The Federal statute states pot is illegal. And yet, here I sit smoking a fatty.

That’s me! I decided to keep it and restore it to stock. Then I found this V8 Roadster, and couldn’t say no.

I know that I can’t keep them both, but until someone comes up with a good trade, I don’t mind having two.
