1983 ford 50oz flexplate and11.5 torque coversion with a c4

do you need to replace the trans spacer plate seems to rub against the flex plate when tightened down .there is two dimple on the plate

Once the bell housing is in place against the block it should hold that plate flat.

You got any pictures of what you're seeing? I don't understand how the blockplate can contact the converter.

my bad the the block plate which is about 1/16 thick has two dimples right at the oil pan, about 1/4 high.They rub on the flex plate. When you tighten down the trans i'll take some pics thanks for responding

The blockplate may be slightly bowed out around the crank hole. There should be plenty of space between it and the flexplate. You may need to remove the flexplate to straighten the blockplate. Other possibilities are you have the wrong flexplate or the crankshaft thrust bearing surface is allowing too much forward movement of the crankshaft.

when i took it apart i tried moving the converter and then it happened it clicked and moved about a 1/8 of a inch in my stupidity everything fine. thanks viperwolf
