So I believe these are service replacement heads, and cast in '73 based on what I see. So not a true Hipo head, but with many of the characteristics.

Valvespring pockets for stability and screw-in rocker-arm studs for dependability make the Hi-Po head unique,

...and the cast-in pushrod guides..

I have a set lying around in my piles of parts someplace. Might use them on a 289 I'm building for an old Carlson CV16.

Hi, totally agree with replacement performance head. Not what the #s matching guys shell out big bucks for, but still collectable. If it has 1/2 head bolt holes it is a 351 head. If the bolt holes are 7/16, it is a 302 head. I wonder what the combustion chamber looks like, and cc. Good luck

No production Hi-Po head had the "HP" casting, only the C8ZE-B service replacement had the "HP". There were many different casting numbers for the Hi-Po since they dated back to 1963 1/2. While they are rare, they would never be considered for a "numbers matching" build. As for the date code, they were cast on the December (M) 20, 1973.
