I'm not a pure engine head, but what I have learned or been told in the backyard is, that a 302 vs a 351w both can only be bored to 4.030" . changeing the stroke may effect the torque vs the increase in HP. The reason I brought this up is that you may save money going another way instead of a lightning setup and make the same results or higher with a 302 vs a 351w

http://www.kb-silvolite.com/page47.htm#SECT1

Ford 347: Ford 302 block with 4.030" bore, 3.4" stroke and 5.4" rod combination. most 351W s have more meat around the cylinders and can be taken out to .060" safely, especially if you have a '74 or earlier block..

It dont exist. Unless the lightning was MAF but I think it was SD. The Mustang 5.0L computer with MAF will run a 351 but you need to get an intake for a 351. I got a line on a complete EFI setup for a "351W" including the computer, manifolds, injectors, and all the extras for $400. The seller says it is original equipment on a late 80's F250. I haven't found out yet if it is a SD or a MA setup. Good deal or not.

If its late 80's its definitely SD, in fact the only truck with a mass air 5.8 was the 95 Bronco (and in CA only). I could be wrong, but MA 5.8 are definitely rare. Your only other OEM instance would be the 5.8 Cobra R's they made, but the odds of getting one of those engines is slim at best. I've been down this road many times-the cheapest way is to score a 5.8 lower/upper from the Mustang classifieds and get the rest used also from a 89-93 Mustang (except your injectors and MAF which will have to be like 24/30 and either 65m or 70mm). Make sure the MAF is calibrated for the injectors too.
