I am about to start back up on the other bronco project. I have a freshly rebuilt 351W without an intake manifold. What manifold do I need to get? I am planning on mounting a Holley Truck Avenger on it.

Thanks

It depends on what you have for space under the hood. I have and like the wieand stealth but it's taller than the edelbrock performer. If your running a stock hood an no body lift you probably need to stick to the performer

Edelbrock performer for clearance. Weiand stealth if clearance is a complete non-issue. I think with the weiand you need at least 2 if not 3 inch body lift.

performer RPM

I'd go for the performer rpm edelbrock manifold.

I'd say go with the edelbrock performer. If you are looking for a slightly higher rpm range...2500-5500 go with the edelbrock air gap. Most likely need the performer though based on a 351 and what most broncos are used for.

Do your homework. Look at realistic RPM range and the CFM your carb/heads/cam are capable of working with.

Throwing money at something to expect it to run good or because it is a well known brand is not the right answer.

Look at how you drive the truck. You want a combination that produces a lot of low end torque and getting the combination right gets expensive by trial and error. Look at the graphs on the mfg web sites for max power/torque down low and also look at engine builder sites for what they have put together for different applications.

A common error is for guys to go big on their carb choice, cfm wise. If this doesn't cost you power it will definately cost you at the pump. Just enough is way better than too much.

Be careful because most aftermarket is for street/drag racing. That's likely not your application. You need low end grunt. The right engine combination and final gear ratio will get you what you are looking for.

Well then you won't have a problem fitting a stealth. Keep an eye on ebay I found one new in the box for a $100 from a good dealer.

:p :p :p Depending on what you want the motor to do if you want up on the top you will want a single plain. But I would suggest to go with a duel plain as they seem to work good on the bottom up to mid range (4500 rpm) good luck with your choice.%) %) %) Bill %) ;D

I prefer the Performer but I haven't ever used the Stealth. I don't think you will go wrong with either choice.

I have a 351W, no body lift and a scoop with a stealth, a TA670 and I now run a 1" phenolic spacer. It will fit with a short drop mount filter but its tight.

You know what I dont like about aluminum intakes on my Bronco? THey make the carb very hot. Hot enough to vapor-lock if you don't put something between the carb and intake. If I had to do it all again I may have kept the old steel 2bbl intake and bought a new 2bbl. But it sure is nice to lift and set the aluminum compared to the cast iron.

If you are going to have a space issue I might try something shorter than the stealth.
