Here is a build sheet from my builder. I don't know much about building motors and would like for the guys that know a good amount about them to comment on these parts and provide their opinions. If you believe I should swap parts for others, please let me know which ones and why. We are about to begin this build within 2 weeks so I would appreciate a quick response from those of you with experience. Thanks in advance!

My EB is a weekend driver around town and I only drive about 50 miles max per weekend. I do not plan on rock climbing but I may (probably not) go off roading a bit. I live at the coast and our area is flat. I want to have a lot of torque and to be very quick off the line. I also want HP but quickness is the main goal.

MY BRONCO
1974
NP435 Transmission
4:11's
35" Tires

That pic is a little small and hard to read. Can you upload something larger?

What are your goals for the motor? How do you plan to drive your truck?

Part's list looks good, but that's not what the build is about. It's about all the "little" stuff that your builder will or "should" do that makes a stroker work to 100% of it's potential. Anybody can make a stroker run. It's all about all the parts working together... too much to list...

Here, call "Woody", this guy has a fantastic reputation and does great work. Extremely knowledgeable and guess what? He only does FORD STROKERS... ;D

Don't just go by his website, call him.

EFI or carb?
What kind of budget do we have?
Do you already have a block that you will use?
Just low end torque you do you want to zing a bunch of RPM from time to time? If so how much?

There is a thread I started "20 questions for stroker owners" that should help you pull info from several people who have had strokers. My requirement is that they have driven the engine for at least a year so we get an honest feeling of what the engine is really like after the initial wow factor.

Thanks Broncobowsher-

I have a 1994 F4TE roller block. I am going carb.

My builder is at around $7k total right now. I don't want to go higher than that. I originally wanted to stay around $5k. But, from what I have read, I should go with the Aluminum heads with this build. Woody and I have communicated via email and he is helpful. Woody says to go with the Scat Stroker kit and some other parts as listed here:

Scat crank
Scat rod
Wiseco piston
Clevite cam main and rod bearing .002-.0025 rods and .0025-.003 mains
Arp main Studs to keep cap walk to a minimum
Custom hyd roller
Air gap
Sa gear timing set with torrington bearing
M83 pump
Arp pump shaft
Tfs 190 with pac 1.300 spring
Ultra gold rocker 7/16
Trend pushrod
9333 headgasket
Morel lifter

Thats what I would do, it will make 500 ft-lbs of tq at 3000 rpm

what camshaft? The camshaft makes or breaks the engine. also what gearing tire size and transmission do you plan on running? For what its worth dont expect 500ft lbs of torque. many people dont end up with what they think they will and are really let down when they find out.
Its a stoker motor in a bronco you can actually go fairly mild and still have a good torque monster you dont need all the high $$ goodies unless you plan on running aboove 6000 RPM. but yes I would concur aluminum heads are a must on a stroker..

I would make sure that the new harmonic balancer you're getting will work with your belts. Isn't Professional Products that chinese knock off? Look in to both of those things. They will be using the HB in the balancing process, want to make sure it's not junk.

If you're buying a $24 crank bolt, you should be buying ARP flywheel bolts too. I think the new crank bolt is excessive- I would just re-use the old one. However, I have had the head of a flywheel bolt sheer off during install, when re-using stock.

I think you can get the valve cover gaskets for about $50 less than what he's going to use.

You can use the Ford Racing lifters & save $100 there.

I wouldn't use ARP main studs on a naturally aspirated motor, unless you're talking super comp level.

I would ask him to install the freeze plugs for free (use that money for ARP flywheel bolts), & install it for a little less. I would want to ensure that install means fires up & runs, in which case you'll spend a little money on a new fuel rail, b/c the carb has dual inlets I would imagine. Lastly, I think you could get a Holley 650 Street Avenger & save some money, unless the 750cfm is called for, and then you can find something a little cheaper, just as good.

Lastly, I would ensure that your AFR's are non-emissions heads so you don't have to deal with plugs.

What's your header/exhaust system to compliment all of this?

Parts

eagle rotating assembly $1,168.95 (which #? There are several options. But I do like the Eagle line
timing set cloyes 9-3138 $89.99
holley fuel pump bep10125 $59.99
quick fuel ss-750 carb $524.99
gasket set ks2325 $59.99

lifters comp cams 851-16 $219.99
roller rockers comp cams ultra gold $239.99
oil pump melling 10688 $77.53 That pump is a good choice for a 302 block. Extended shaft, botom support, good stuff. But for the 351 block you need Melling 10832 or 10833
oil pump shaft 154-7901 $22.61 Not needed, upgraded shaft included with the pump above.
arp head bolt kit 154-3603 $77.99 Spend the couple extra dollars and just do studs
oil pan milodon 30926 $229.99
oil pump screen 18365 $42.99
msd spark plug wires $82.99 Use Ford Motorsports instead
autolite spark plugs $15.63
set header gaskets $12.64
afr eliminator heads 185 cc $1,484.10
3 cans engine paint $15.91
ch-12 cam bearings $26.70
5- quarts brad penn break in oil $30.00
balancer bolt $22.95
2-purolator oil filters $10.00
harmonic balancer professional products $149.99 May already be included in the Eagle kit? If not included use the Explorer damper and have balanced. You will want the Explorer accessory drive anyway. I would not use a Pro products.
msd distributor Make sure it has the steel gear, not cast, not bronze
msd 6al box
valve covers
fel pro head gaskets for aluminum heads $84.56
comp cams 270 roller cam $293.99

labor

install cam bearings $35.00

line hone block $120.00
vatted block $60.00
remove/install engine $500.00

Few more things I picked out.
Main studs?
Flywheel (and bolts)?

If you read some of the posts in Broncobowshers thread you will see a few people would've given up some torque down low for some HP and redline up top. I honestly would agree because a bronco isn't very big so it's already gonna be peppy and with a 408 your gonna have torque everywhere.

I would possibly look at the TFS 190 heads because they flow better on a smaller bore because the valves aren't shrouded by the cylinder bore. You can see that AFR tweaks their flow numbers by using a .060 over bore to unshroud the valves and improve flow numbers. This should help fill those big cubes your pushin' ;D
