Anybody running this setup? When I went to attach the Xmember, it doesnt seem to fit.

Tom's makes this for the AOD so the cutout has been done. It looks like I need to trim some of the side of the xmember.

Anybody running this setup? Have pictures? What did you do?

Also, I think if you are running and AODE, that the same issue would apply.

Help me out here please

Thanks!
Steve

The 4R/AODE is about 3/4 of an inch longer than the AOD that the cross member is designed for. It doesn't really fit the4R as you found out. I haven't seen the cross member. Does it mount to the stock angle brackets? or does it mount direct to the frame? If it mounts to the stock bracket, then I would extend the bracket by welding some angle to the end and drilling a new hole for the crossmember. If it mouns direct to the frame, then I think you will need to drill and tap the frame, or cut and extend the cross member so it mounts up. If you post pictures you can probably get better ideas on what to do.

Tom,

Thanks. The real problem is that the actual crossmember does not fit between the Tcase and Tranny to bolt up to the adpater. I think I will be fine if I can trim and get it fit in there.

It is a stock bronco crossmember with the center section cleared. So it bolts to the stock angle brackets. The provided new ones that seem longer so I think I can just make a new hole in there and that will be fine.

It is just a matter of getting it to fit between the tranny and tcase.....

guy I bought the setup from also sent me the Xmember he used. But that is gonna require new backets on the from for that to work so we will see.

Thanks!

make sure you don't get the brackets upside down like i did the first time. also, there is a left and a right one since the holes are offset.

Then the Tom's setup looks like what mine does. Your welcome to come over and look it over , just let me know. I'm not working this week so I'm around the house most of the week.

Thanks Tom. I decided to go with the custom crossmember the guy I bought it from sent me. So fabbing up some brackets... which is a little tough since I have no fab skills. Hopefully I will be up and running Saturday but we will see.

Cheers,
Steve
