4r70w to dana20 using ZF adaptor

for those who have done this swap i am looking for some instruction/guidance on how much of the 4r70 output shaft needs trimming? I've read about 3/4" one an old post but exact measurements would be great. Would hate to mess this up and have to tear into the transmission...

also any additional install tips would be great.
