Just had a week off of work here, got some stuff done.
Decided I needed to do an explorer serp swap. Went across the border and piked up a complete '98 Explorer 5.0L. Couldn't use the P heads cause I didn't want to buy or modify headers, so I ended up ripping down the explorer block and putting the mustang heads and upper on. This way I get my explorer serp and my rjm harness still works with all the mustang stuff. Also got the explorer pan outta the deal as well. I had to build a set of shims outta some plate steel to shim the engine up to clear the idler pulley. I may be able to use the oil cooler as well.
After that I got the RJM harness installed. Pretty happy with it. Just had to lengthen the air bypass plug in order to accommodate the bc broncos throttle cable. Made my own alternator harness from the old explorer one. Still have to mount my coil and my bp sensor. If anyone has suggestions or pics that would be sweet. For the coil I was thinking of making a plate to go where the ac pump used to be and mounting it there.
Next up was the centech. Wired the dash out on the bench. Put in their wiper switch, a usb outlet and a 12 v outlet where the brake warn light was. Gave up on the brake warn light. Couldn't get the new bezel into the old housing. Dash and pad installed. I've runt he passenger side of the centech through the firewall but that's where i've left off.
Then I got the flaming river tilt column and steering shaft installed. I'm using a grant disconnect and it wasn't mating up well to the column so I had to weld a 1/2" strip around the bezel to make up the difference. Turned out good. I'm pretty pist the tilt lever is already busted. What a cheap POS that is. You'd think it would be a bit beefier for what you pay for these things. Still don't know what i'm gonna do about that one. But at least the bronco steers now.
Cage is permanently in now that the dash is in.
enjoy the pics!
