Great Job Tgure
You have now passed me in my grond up project. I have been in search of a 5.0 and just got it.

Please keep the pics coming, I am very interested in the Rotisserie. I am ready to get going on the body work.

Well after a 4 month hiatus I begain to dig in again. I installed my BC 24 gal gas tank and skid plate. I also began construction on my rotisserie (Thanks to Airman for helping me pick up the steel). Hopefully finish up rotisserie tomorrow and get body to sandblaster this week so I can begin rust replacement. Here are a few pics ;D

Nice work Aaron. Good to see you're back working on it. The BC tank looks great in there. If your rear end came all the up, how close to the tank would you say it would be? Because I have my crossmember cut out, do you see any problems moving the tank back an inch or two?

Patrick,

Here is a shot looking straight down. It appears without the crossmember you would have about 3" of clearance with the axle in stock position. Technically you have about 6" you could move the tank back and still have frame left to bolt it to. However you have about 2-3" before the tank starts protruding out past the rear of the frame. So depending on how your rear bumper mounts and sits would determine the max you could go back with the tank. Hope that helps ;D

Yeah that picture helps a lot. I don't want the tank to stick out beyond the frame so I may move it back 2 to 3 inches. Having about 3 inches between the rear axle and tank, in the stock position, and moving the tank back 2 to 3 inches should give me about 5 to 6 inches to move my rear axle back without interfering with the tank. Thanks for the picture. ;)

Well few more pics of today's rotisserie progress. Need a new 1/2" drill bit so couldn't finish it up today. I should have it finished Thursday and body off to sandblaster. ;D

yup it doesn't get much playtime. If I wouldn't lose half what I spent I would sell it. Fun to drive them but more fun to have someone to race around with. ;)
That's why my son has the HPI Savage 25 and I have the Losi Super Truck. They both have been put away for now so I could finish my 77 which is taking forever. I've considered building a rotiseree also for the tub I got but time is the issue.

Hey the rotisserie is looking good! You will love it.
(Although no warranty is expressed or implied!)
;D

FWIW, in hindsight I would have like to have painted mine before I set the tub on it.

Edit: I see you're in Arizona, nevermind the paint, carry on! LOL ;)

Ok I finished up the rotisserie and mounted the body to it. I was by myself so I used an engine hoist to lift body onto saw horses then bolted rotisserie to tub then lifted rotisserie to get saw horses out. ;D

Ok here are some photos of problem areas in the body before it goes off to the media blaster. I expect when it gets back there will be more rust holes that were hidden. Once it is back then I can order the panels I need to replace. ;D

Tgure,

Those photos show the floor pans curling up around the floor supports. Expose as much of those supports so the media guys can blast them well!!!! You don't want them rusting!

Thanks for posting!

Looking good dude. That rotisserie looks awesome. Your body looks to be in about the same condition as mine is. I know that I am going to find a lot more rust once I get to looking at it really good. Are you going to media blast it yourself or take it somewhere to be done? If you’re going to take it somewhere, what kind of price estimate did they quote you?

I am taking it somewhere as I did not want to mess with that. I think he quoted me $300 to do the tub. I will bring him the hood, fenders grill etc and have him do those at same time. Since I built the rotisserie and will bring it to him on that it will be easier for him to blast so since he charges by the hour I should be able to get it all done for about $300.

Cool, that doesn't seem bad. Post up some pics when you get it back. ;D

Tqure,
Its looking great. I suggest you add a strong back under the tub before trailering it on the road. Just use a piece of 2” tubing with angle iron welded to the ends and make it where you can bolt it to the rotisserie arms and have it removable when you need to. Here’s a picture of what I am talking about.

Ok photos of the damage that has been exposed after media blasting. I would like to fix whats fixable and order new panels for what is not fixable. Is any of this fixable without tons of bondo? Am I better off ordering new panels for all this? What do you guys think ?:?

More more more. Are these tears in the metal fixable by welding them and griding the welds down? Or is the metal probably too thin and it will just burn through?

Look at the crinkles in the front fender anyway to smooth that out with the least amount of bondo possible or is a new fender in order? %)
