6r80 to atlas II adapter. Is a gasket or RTB needed?

May be a dumb question. Is any RTB or a gasket needed on 1 or both sides of the 6r80 to atlas 2 adapter? None were shipped so I sort of assume not needed?

Your welcome. Wasn’t meant as a correction just being clear and did understand what you were asking. We all do it, spelling, punctuation, auto correct you name it. Been following your build, it’s going to be nice!

Will be attempting to mate the body to the chassis soon. Just mocking up the twin stick shifters off the atlas right now.

RTV is an appropriate sealer for those surfaces.
I though that the 6R80 was dry between the transmission and transfer case. I'm almost certain. The one on my Coyote was that way. It was a D20 adapter, but I think they are the same. The only tricky thing is that one special socket head screw that's counterbored in the bottom.

I know that the Atlas is dry on the input side. It has an input seal, but it's usually double lipped.

I would worry much more about how I would keep the splines lubricated. @nvrstuk will know this off the top of his head.

If people mentioned my typos that's all that would be posted! My latest "auto-download" on my phone (which I couldn't reject) changes about 1/3 of my technical jargon changing them into words that don't make sense for the rest of the sentence. Frustrating at best when I go back and re-read a day later and "converter" is changed to "assumption" and I go WTH???

Anyway, it's dry! :) I just coat the splines with anti-sieze so I can be covered with it later when I install it. :) I have never seen any lube on the splines when pulling factory installed 6r's apart. Guess Ford's saving 10 cents by not doing it. Here's a pic of one sitting next to a stroker... waiting for a home someday.

I too believe they are dry, I happen to like them to be sealed up. Mostly keeping water and crap out causing corrosion. As for lubing the splines I don’t feel that is that big of a deal, Heeps were that way for a long time with a weep hole that let all sorts of junk in there without any real negative side effects other than killing the seal and making a leak.

So there's a build thread somewhere on this? Can someone post a link? Thx

we aren't that far apart in the tech department 😂

the vertical vs horizontal phone thing comes up couple of times a year. I stumbled on it by accident, how we accomplish amazing things.... by accident :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

In order for me to see the signatures on my iphone, I switch from the Tapatalk app to web view, then go horizontal.
