My back up lights dont work, but my neutral safety switch does.
To test the C-4 neutral safety switch for functioning for the back up lights, I should be able to set my ohm meter on the white and blk/red wire after unplugging it at the firewall and when in reverse the circut should be closed correct?
I have power going to the switch, but not leaving.

I have same problem

Rjrobin, I have a 77 with C4 and the same problem. My neutral safety is working (can't start it in gear) but my reverse lights don't work. I haven't had a chance to investigate it so I'll be curious about the responses you get with your post. I was also going to go under my truck and start testing for voltage headed to the back of the vehicle from the switch (when the car is in reverse). I assume it's possible that part of the switch can be working and the other part would not.

First make sure this which is adjusted correctly. There's a small hole on the side what that you can insert a small drill bit into. put the trans in neutral loosen the 2 screws and rotate the switch until the drill bit goes in about a half inch. Then tighten the screws that's how the switches adjusted.

The brass contacts inside the switch do wear out also. I have repaired many of those switches before by making a new brass contact.
