Well I finished up my D44 rebuild (new gears, carrier, bearings seals etc) and I’m now in the process of putting on the drum to disk brake conversion parts (79 bronco knuckles out) I’ve had sitting around for years.

Mounted the knuckles (new ball joints installed) last night and went to look for the nuts for the studs and can only find half. I got 5 and need 10. That’s the problem with letting stuff sit around. It grows legs and walks away.

Looking to pick them up local or use a different nut. I hate to pay $10 shipping on a $3 order. Does anyone know what grade these nuts are? Hoping to stop by Tractor Supply or HD, or Lowe’s on the way home and gets them.

Are you talking the spindle nuts. If so they are supposed to be all metal lock nuts. They are said to be grade 8 equivalent. Most fastener places have them..?Good luck...Mo

Yeah I guess I am. They go on teh knuckle but hold the spindle on. There 7/16-20's and yes, there locking nuts. I couldn't find any grade 8's so I went with grade 5's.

Just found the missing 5 nuts. Helps if you look in ALL the bags and not just the one you THINK their in.

I would not trust a grade 5. Step up to grade 8's or pay the $10 shipping. You "probably" won't have any problems, but is your life worth not spending the extra $10?

If you have to ask the question, please take the advise we are willing to take our time on here to post in reply.

But now that you've got the originals, you're good to go.
Hmmm, wonder if the rest of your locking hub parts are in that same bag? ;)

Probably too much to hope for, but hey, we can hope anyway.
