Franko or anyone else know the earliest 77 vin? I know we have discussed the last 77 vin but i just wondred what the first would be? Reason is i know where U15GLO00034 is. Could maybe be the first 77 made. And it has gas doors for those that are curious from an old thread about some 77’s without them. Lol

If so, then it's looking more and more like the door-or-no-door thing could be more of an inconsistent build thing than it is a factory numerical sequence thing.

I'm wondering too, if it's not in fact more of an inconsistency among DMV's and how they register different vehicles.
If that's the case, that would explain why some "77's" got gas caps even while others already had doors.

We've seen DMV data entry errors here many times before. Wouldn't take much of an error to skew the first few months of a model year into the previous one.

Seems like it would be more of a production error thing, as to which '77's got a single gas door, where others had dual doors even with single tanks.
Sounds like this one has two doors? Do you know if it's got two tanks?
Ford probably thought early on it would continue to do the single/dual tank fenders different from each other right from the get-go, then realized it was a pain and would be better/cheaper to just make one fender for all models, and then just bolt the door shut on the single tanks models.

O00000-O19999 were the August 76' builds from what I've written down on the 77' vin info.

U15GLO00003 was the first .... and they jumped numbers ! 000003 sits on a 71 ( GLM ) frame and drive train .... done before current custodian in CA ( very good looking EB but, massive deductions at SC and I walked away from the owner bc I just didn't wana argue about it )

next was 11 ....\
43 was def made before 9:30 am on first day of 77 production ! 4th or 5th EB made that day !

per ford they made 1212 broncos in Feb 1977 .... Feb 1977 had 20 working days ! = 58 broncos a Day !
the Ford truck plant worked two 8 hour shifts .... they made 38 trucks per hour .....every minimum 8th truck coming off the assembly line was a Bronco

( never less bc the time it took to assemble the front clip of a Bronco ! )

to me the most interesting thing about the 77s are the once made in 77 and specially the last 3 months of production .

As the plant ran out of color specific parts they just tossed things together .... order sheet vs built sheet vs what marti got on file !?

lots of the special order late 77 once are 1 0f 1 .... just bc the plant didn't have the correct parts to do it and knowing they not going to get any more of them parts that are needed per order, they just used what they had left over ...

I had a '77 once that didn't come with any passengers seats, front or back. No dash pad either.

Btw I think I still have the vin wrote down here somewhere. I'll see if I can find it and post it.

AGAIN .,...

as the plant ran out for some parts for special order broncos .... some got held back until the parts came in ...and other broncos got pushed forward of production !

they would also bundle them into groups of certain power trains / colors or just by parts available ! like running out of specific front and rear gears !

I bet a 77 w.out fuel doors is a special order 76 that got held back for some parts missing !

same w. this cherry ..... others got held back ...this one was pushed forward in production bc it wasn't a special order , therefor they can toss parts at it as they like and have !

a GLK2xxxx = 10/70 ...yet it was made Sep/70 ( just like I fancy them )

Did you see the thread today where O02219 is in Norway?
I realize that's not down near the 00034 area, but it's still a cool '77.
And being revived pretty quickly as well.
