Thats a sweet mural on the drivers door. Reminds me of the old vans in the 70's and 80's. I wonder what people were thinking....

9498 = Partridge Family code.

Rear flares look pretty well done. Me, I'd leave the outside finish as-is!

9498 is Front bucket seat only wagon. So no rear seat with a bulkhead originally.

Cool find!

I thought it was code for 949 colors, plus chrome!

Would be great to know more of it's history.

Mark - Great score!

Other respondents - Funny stuff !! ;D

Since "murals" came up, a side story - Many years ago, say early 80's I was driving through Versailles Kentucky and a '64 Galaxy drives past as I sat at a red light. It had a mural all along the side of rolling hills, horses, trees, fences, etc. I just sat there and though to myself how weird that was. Then in the mid 90's I'd driven my Saleen to a car show in Louisville put on by the local Shelby Club. While there I watched as two guys pulled in and unloaded a "R" Code Galaxy Lightweight out of an enclosed trailer. While looking over the beautiful restoration and talking to them they advise me that it started out rough, with a farm mural on the side!:eek: Wow I felt dumb, and that saying about judging a book by its cover really sunk in. %)

Tore into this one today. Will be doing a frame off restoration. Condition is pretty good. door posts, cowel and rear quarter seams are all good. Had a front end crunch at one time so we are replacing inner aprons and core support. Original color is Peacock blue. It is growing on me. Will probably add p/s, power disk brakes, air conditioning and auto trans. Otherwise will keep it pretty stock. Mark in San Diego, Beach City Broncos

I like the title of this thread. "Another One Saved".

That's what I keep telling my wife. "I'm saving them".

68 bronco

Work is progressing nicely on the 68. A couple of new panels at the rear of one of the rear wheel tubs; Drivers side floor is almost finished. Still to do ...both outer rockers, both inner fender aprons and core support. Will post more as we go along. Mark in San Diego, Beach City Broncos
