Any tips on removing the hood pin spring?

I'm putting on a different hood and i need to adjust the spring pin assembly down a bit so it will catch the latch.

There is only about a 1 inch gap on the under side of the front lip of the hood to get to the nut holding it on.

Anybody have a good way to take it off?

The pin unscrews out of the hood, the nut is a jam nut.

Not sure what you're saying about the 1" gap Razorback. The jam nut is accessible from the outside with just about any kind of wrench (http://www.wildhorses4x4.com/product/Hood_Pin_Spring_Assembly) and the one on the inside is welded to the hood and does not come out or need to loosen.
A groove joint type plier (Channel-Lock) or adjustable wrench should access it pretty quickly I would think.
Or, if you're lucky, you should be able to stick a big screwdriver or other prying device in the groove (for just that purpose) and turn the pin even with the jam nut in place.
Although, I'm figuring you tried that already, but had to mention it anyway. Just in case...

Or do you mean that your hood is latched, you can't get it open now, and can't get a wrench on the nut through the small gap? Or are you trying to access the one "inside" the hood support?

Or am I missing something obvious?
Been known to happen!

Hey Paul thanks for the bumper bolts got them a few days ago!

I didn't realize the nut under the inside lip was welded in. I'm able to loosen the nut that tensions the spring but when I loosen it I can't get the pin to budge. I even cut a deeper groove to allow my big screwdriver to get a better bite but its frozen up.

I believe I'm going to drill a hole through the pin and then put something stout through the hole to act as a handle for some more leverage.

Thanks!

...or break it off.

Yep, Something to dread, but sounds like not much you can do about it Razor.
Plenty of them have gone that way I'm sure. Been lucky with most of the ones out this way, but give weather and water enough time and a rusty thread will hold tighter than a weld sometimes!
