I am in the process of making half doors out of an old pair of doors.

Has anyone made their own half doors? Can you post pics?

My goals are to have sturdy doors, some room in the bottom half to stuff small tools or supplies, interior door latch controlling the stock latch mechanism.

I was thinking of making 45* cuts on either end down to the body line about 6-8" below the top of the door skin. Like the snoop doors, just not as big a dip in the middle. So it would be a good armrest height.

Any ideas would be great. I am trying to measure a few times, and cut once.

Thanks,

Here is the driver’s door that I did a few years back. I finished trimming the window frame from the top of the door and filling in the gaps. I attached the latch to the lock handle. To open the door, just pull up on the lock. Or just slide out the door...which is what I usually do ;D

Thanks for the feedback & pics. I think I am going to cut mine down to the body line, so I still have enough room in the door for small storage and a pair of speakers.

Thanks again! I am no bodyman by any stretch, so the finished products are going to take me some time. I will let you know how it goes and post pics when done.
