My Duff's springs are at least 10 years old and the tighter windings don't touch. My buddies coils from Tom's were bound since they were installed. Tom's gave him store credit a year later. If the coils are bound at ride height, then they're only able to do half their job. I think Tom's knows there is a problem and they're taking care of it. Here's the difference in the two coils.

SADLY, we must part Nick.

toms customer service is def first class i will give them that!

you could not fit a sheet of paper between the first 7 wraps.

Well, I'm kinda new to this site so maybe I should just keep my mouth shut... but I can't. I read this thread and re-read this thread just to make sure I was giving you a fair shake. "SADLY", as you often say, I don't think we can be friends, Nick. Bashing people publicly for no real reason-not cool. But I found it seems to be a trend with you after researching your previous threads and noting all of your genius remarks and comments. Especially the totally unnecessary judging of Drew Peroni's (and father's) '66 restoration. Wow! Can you say open mouth, insert foot? You claim to know a lot about the '66 model year but, SADLY" you were put in your place. Do a google search on the Peroni family and then on yourself. SADLY, that's an eye opener. They have contributed more to the Bronco world than your eBay selling ass ever will. Oh, and later, you asked a question about the rubber mat. Don't you know? By the way, where are the pictures of these springs you installed? You said you would post them for us to see but SADLY, you did not so we will never see "the first 7 wraps" where no piece of paper has ever gone. No, I don't know you but I,ve seen folks like you. I tried to buy those Warflares from you but SADLY, I must have been 2 minutes too late. You did send me an email telling me of my misfortune, though not real believable. SADLY, I must now delete you from my list of people (you're the only one) whose posts I really just don't want to read. I see brighter days ahead!:D

I don't hear mine at all, they are not sitting on top of each other at rest but not far from it. I the entire spring was close then you would hear them bottom out
against each other but it's not. When the first row touch the movement is transferred to the next row and so on.

That's my take on them at least!

Thanks for the info, good to hear their working for you.. This has been a good thread for me since I'm trying to decide on springs.. I've got to say though, if a "peice of paper" is the measuring stick for these things, as some of the others suggest, I'm going to have to look elsewhere. Just dont trust that little clearance on a suspension component, especially since they tend to settle after some miles.

Quote "As for Chinese and Indian made goods they do in fact use cheaper grade steel, compare a Chinese wrench to a snap on and it is night and day, Chinese made aluminum wheels crack all of the time, look it up. " End quote

There two themes to your post. One is a rant about Tom's and the other is a rant about not made in the USA. I'm a retired Mac Tools Distributor I know a little bit about tools. Both Snap-On and Mac have made more and more of their tools in China and Tiawan. Why? In order to be competitive price wise. Does that mean they are crap? No. They have a life-time warranty.

First, this is not a rant about toms. toms is a good distributer, they just so happen to sell a bad coil spring.

The rant about made in USA, if everyone else in this country cared we would have no national deficit and one he'll of an economy. (if there were not people like me this country would be in even worse shape)

I don't buy snap on and macs Chinese made garbage unless I cannot find the same tool made here. To quote the movie black sheep "you can put a warranty on a box full of shit but it's still a box of shit"

I can get a good look at a T-bone by sticking my head up a bull's ass, but I'd rather take a butcher's word for it.:-X

I'm not sure your point but thats funny right there I dont care who you are!! And if any one really cares at this point, I have the Tom's 2 1/2 lift on my Bronco, none of the wraps are bound, you could stick more dollar bills between the wraps on mine then I have in my wallet at anytime, and they work and ride Awesome. Sorry somebody had trouble, but if I have a problem I go to the supplier not to the internet....just saying.

lol, thats great.

like i said before, if you buy something of poor quality from a vendor i would appreciate the heads up myself.

are your 2.5" springs a different color? they said they used a different supplier when the springs were black. if not then you may have just ended up with a good set.

Even though I don't agree with bashing someone without talking to them first to rectify the problem I understand the frustration. I’m surprised John has not smacked your hand publicly for doing so (read the rules)….very surprised! Having said that, unlike other vendors, Toms deals with problems by taking care of the customer and not coming on here and telling you you’re dumb and it’s your Bronco that’s crap, or feel the need to respond to every little bitch and grip about their inferior products, they just handle it like men! I’m just saying…%)

We could, but only if we think about the feelings (my feminine side) of others before we post something ignorant. To be fair, re-read this entire thread as well as the Peroni restoration thread, as I did, and try to keep an open mind. You will see a pattern. As the saying goes and this is only an analogy, "once a thief, always a thief", so his bashings will probably continue. Even after so many others have asked him to reconsider his comments BEFORE he sends them. I did not see anyone else state "yeah, my Toms Boncos Parts springs are trash, too". And as he said, he is too busy to attend events even though close to half of the ones they are affiliated with are in his home state. This is a quote about this group: "MEB is organized as a non-profit organization for the purpose of: Promoting the preservation and history of the 1966-1977 Ford Bronco". And that is what he claims he is doing so why not offer support using his skills and knowledge. Are your eyes open now?:eek:

rex, i here ya, ish.

the Peroni thread was posted because when you build a vehicle to exactly duplicate what ford released and it is in some way not correct then the build is open for critiquing. (if you build it your way it is not) this is why there are concourse judges (i understand i am not one), i was told that Drews father was a judge for the concourse broncos so i thought it strange that parts of that build were not correct. (some of which were correct and i was corrected on) i apologized for him taking offense to my post, i would not have posted it if i thought he would. i would personally not mind a post of that nature.

should i have posted that thread on here..... probably not. but i did attain knowledge from the tread which was honestly the purpose of the post to begin with. hind sight is 20/20.

as for this thread, i am not bashing toms. i am saying that one part they offer is not a good product. period. (i see nothing wrong with that)

as for me and participating in bronco events, i own two businesses..... need i say more? i would love to participate in those events and things like Drews wrench and roast but i honestly spend my free time with my girlfriend. (my feminine side coming out, lol)
