Just got back. I will say there were 2 good ones at the show and the rest painted junk. That '66 was actually really nice in person. It was a true body off. Frame is a little pitted but it has good paint on it now. Frame and body were painted separate. Really clean, appeared to run good (which is actually quite rare for auction cars). The only thing that was really wrong was the newer bumpers. Yea, there was a hitch installed as well, but fairly period correct looking.
The other good Bronco is the one with an Atlas in it. It looked to be well sorted and loaded with good stuff. The Atlas was a bit dirty, it has miles on it. Also has a high 9 in the back. Not spotlessly clean, but that is good. It has been driven and issues sorted out.
Those two are the only ones that I would hop in and go for a drive straight from the auction. The rest have issues. Body mount missing a nut here, wiring there, plumbing as well. One had a zip tie freshly installed to keep the rubber line off the header. fresh restoration included using headers so rusty I could almost see through them. ZF conversion suppose to use a rubber hose and a worm clamp on the pressure line? Yea, there are a lot of freshly lifted and painted basket case broncos going across that block. And 2 real nice examples.
Early FJs had a very strong presence this year as well. Those all looked completely stock and very clean. One had a wild green paint job, that was about as far from stock as they got.
The new building took a lot of the cars that are normally outside and put them inside. Only 5 outdoor tents this year. It isn't that bright inside. If you are buying anything I would recommend bringing a good flash light with you.
